What You'll do The Quality Engineer is responsible for assisting and supporting the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of the plant’s Quality Management System to support overall business goals. This role ensures compliance with automotive industry standards and serves as the primary liaison for quality matters with assigned customers, suppliers, and internal teams.Support the plant’s quality initiatives in alignment with company objectivesMaintain, and improve IATF 16949–compliant Quality Management System proceduresServe as the company’s quality representative in interactions with assigned customers and suppliersCollaborate with product and engineering teams to support and maintain appropriate quality methods and controlsLead structured problem-solving activities and oversee the corrective action process (e.g., 8D)Define, monitor, and report on customer satisfaction metricsAssist with Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) activities, including process definition, control plans, PFMEAs, and work instructionsSupport plantwide Continuous Improvement initiatives through training, documentation, and quality assurance practicesPerform additional duties as assigned What Makes You SuccessfulYou may be a great fit if you:Enjoy analytical, detail-driven work.Take pride in accuracy and attention to detail.Work well independently and as part of a team.Stay organized and manage competing priorities effectively.Communicate clearly and professionally, both written and verbal.Are comfortable navigating a fast-paced manufacturing environment.Are comfortable being the point of contact when a customer or supplier needs answers on a quality issue.What You'll Bring
Physical Requirements- High school diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor's degree in engineering, business, or related discipline desired.5+ years of experience in a quality function within an automotive Tier 1 or Tier 2 environment.Direct experience with TS/IATF 16949/IATF 16949 required.CMM experience required (Faro, Roemer/Hexagon, etc.).Working knowledge of 8D, Six Sigma, Red X, MMOG, and other automotive quality tools.Demonstrated experience interfacing with customers and suppliers to resolve quality issues.Strong ability to interpret technical documents, safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals.Solid understanding of shop math, including geometry and trigonometry.Skilled in preparing written reports and professional correspondence.Effective verbal and written communication skills with coworkers, supervisors, customers, and suppliers.
- Ability to sit or stand at a workstation for extended periods, including computer use.
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods on the shop floor.
- Frequently bend, stoop, kneel, reach, and twist.
- Occasionally lift, carry, push, and pull materials or equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to use hands and fingers to operate computers, tools, and equipment requiring manual dexterity.
- Ability to distinguish colors, read gauges, blueprints, work instructions, and inspection documents.
- Ability to safely navigate a manufacturing environment, including awareness of moving equipment and marked walkways.
- Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE), including safety glasses and hearing protection, when on the production floor.
- Ability to perform the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.
