Job Description

Content Marketing Lead

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Content Marketing Lead based in South Africa.

This is a high-impact opportunity for an experienced content and editorial leader to shape the narrative of a global B2B technology business. You will define the editorial strategy, category story, and thought-leadership agenda across multiple functions and senior stakeholders. The role combines exceptional editorial judgment with an AI-first approach to building scalable content systems and workflows. You will transform proprietary data and complex research into compelling, evidence-based stories that influence customers, executives, and the wider market. Working as a highly autonomous individual contributor, you will mobilize internal experts, freelancers, agencies, and executives without relying on formal authority. The scope spans research, executive voice, newsletters, podcasts, original content, and broader brand influence. This is an opportunity to establish a modern, AI-native content function while directly connecting editorial work to business impact.

Accountabilities
  • Define and lead the long-term editorial and category strategy across Marketing, executive leadership, Product, People, Legal, and customer-facing teams, establishing consistent positions, language, and evidence standards.
  • Own a multi-year editorial roadmap and prioritize flagship research, thought-leadership, and narrative initiatives aligned with broader business strategy.
  • Serve as the final quality bar for voice, accuracy, sourcing, evidence, editorial judgment, and overall content quality across human- and AI-generated work.
  • Architect and govern AI-powered systems for research, brand voice, fact-checking, source verification, content repurposing, evaluation, reporting, and workflow automation.
  • Establish clear guidelines for when AI, human expertise, specialists, or executives should lead different stages of content development and approval.
  • Measure the effectiveness of content systems through throughput, cycle time, cost, adoption, quality, and business impact, continuously improving the operating model.
  • Develop the operating model for executive publishing and advise senior leaders on the arguments, perspectives, and topics the organization should champion publicly.
  • Turn proprietary employment, salary, hiring, and market data into original research programs capable of shaping industry conversations.
  • Coordinate newsletters, podcasts, events, PR, analyst relations, product marketing, customer stories, partner content, and social initiatives around shared narratives.
  • Connect editorial decisions to measurable business outcomes including customer trust, growth, target-account engagement, earned influence, and pipeline contribution.
  • Build reporting and insights that help executives make informed decisions about content portfolios, priorities, and investment.
  • Identify emerging market developments and recommend strategic responses before trends become widely established.
  • Mobilize senior stakeholders, freelancers, agencies, specialists, and subject-matter experts through clear direction, shared standards, decision rights, and operating rhythms.
  • Shape the future organizational model for the content function, determining which capabilities should remain expert-led, become systematized, or require additional hiring.
Requirements
  • 8+ years of experience in content, editorial, brand journalism, or a related field, including senior ownership of a brand narrative or thought-leadership program within a B2B technology environment.
  • Demonstrated success defining company or category narratives that influenced business decisions, established external authority, and gained adoption across multiple teams.
  • Strong portfolio of editorial or thought-leadership work that has earned attention through credible citations, quotations, industry debate, or organic sharing.
  • Demonstrated AI-first working practices that extend beyond content drafting, including experience building agents, custom workflows, evaluation processes, quality assurance, governance, and adoption mechanisms.
  • Exceptional English-language writing, editing, sourcing, research, and editorial judgment, with a strong ability to maintain a distinctive and consistent voice.
  • Ability to translate proprietary data, complex research, and technical or business topics into clear, credible, defensible arguments with strong commercial relevance.
  • Proven ability to make high-impact editorial and strategic trade-offs while influencing executives and cross-functional teams without formal authority.
  • Experience designing scalable content mechanisms, operating standards, processes, and roadmaps that enable consistent execution across teams.
  • Strong strategic thinking, autonomy, curiosity, and comfort operating in an ambiguous, rapidly evolving environment.
  • Genuine interest in working as a high-autonomy individual contributor without direct reports while owning company-critical initiatives.
  • Familiarity with HR technology, global employment, future of work, fintech, compliance-heavy industries, or similar domains is advantageous.
  • Experience optimizing content for AI search visibility, including how AI assistants discover, retrieve, summarize, and cite information, is a plus.
  • Multimedia experience across video, podcasting, design, or related formats is beneficial.
  • Experience establishing an internal newsroom or original research program is desirable.
  • International experience, multilingual capabilities, or experience working across multiple markets is a plus.
  • Reliable home internet connection and strong written and spoken English communication skills.
Benefits
  • Fully remote work with the flexibility to work from anywhere you are authorized to work.
  • 40 days of paid time off per year, including holidays and vacation, or more where required by local regulations.
  • Mental health and wellbeing support through dedicated employee assistance services.
  • Monthly wellbeing allowance to support a broad range of personal wellness needs.
  • At least three months of paid parental leave for new parents, with job protection for up to 12 months or as required locally.
  • Work-from-home stipend to support laptop and home-office equipment.
  • Flexible, asynchronous working environment designed for globally distributed teams.
  • Inclusive culture that values diverse perspectives, collaboration, trust, and autonomy.
  • Opportunities to shape a high-impact function and influence the future of AI-native content operations.
