Job Description

Description:

Company Overview:

Perimeter Solutions is a premier global solutions provider, producing high-quality lubricant additives and firefighting chemicals. We develop products that impact critically important issues of life – issues where there often is no room for error and the job doesn’t offer second chances.

At Perimeter, we characterize the solutions we develop as ‘Solutions that Save’ – because it helps underscore what we are trying to accomplish for our customers, and the world at large, across all our business segments.

The Director, Accounting & Finance is a key finance leader responsible for managing the financial health and risk of the business while supporting sustainable long-term owner value. Operating within a lean finance organization, this is a hands-on leadership role combining team leadership with direct involvement in critical accounting, financial analysis, reporting, controls, and business decision support. This opportunity is well suited for an experienced finance leader who enjoys remaining close to the numbers and the business, combining experienced judgment and perspective with a willingness to engage directly in analysis, problem-solving, and execution when needed.

The Director leads the accounting organization and ensures timely and accurate financial reporting, effective internal controls, disciplined cash management, and appropriate application of accounting standards across a multi-country business. In addition to core accounting leadership, the role will expand to include progressively broader responsibility for FP&A, performance management, investment analysis, budgeting, forecasting, strategic planning, and senior business partnership.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Accounting Leadership & Financial Reporting

  • Lead and develop the accounting organization, including Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, Cost Accounting, Fixed Assets, Financial Accounting, and related processes.
  • Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual close and financial reporting, ensuring timely and accurate results.
  • Ensure the integrity of the general ledger, including manufacturing costs, inventory, fixed assets, expenses, accruals, amortization, cash, and other significant accounts.
  • Maintain strong balance sheet discipline through timely reconciliations, review, and resolution of reconciling items.
  • Oversee accounting interfaces and processes associated with payroll, credit card, travel, and employee expenses.
  • Oversee international accounting activities, including intercompany reconciliations and eliminations, consolidation, foreign currency translation, and related foreign exchange accounting.
  • Review and approve cash transactions, including deposits, sweeps, and disbursements, while maintaining visibility into periodic cash requirements and availability.
  • Establish clear accountability, develop team capabilities, and promote consistent accounting practices across geographies.

Technical Accounting, Controls & Compliance

  • Ensure consistent application of U.S. GAAP and company accounting policies, including relevant guidance such as ASC 606 and ASC 842.
  • Maintain and continuously improve the internal control environment and related process documentation, including appropriate segregation of duties and safeguarding of company assets.
  • Lead the business unit’s participation in internal and external audits and SOX testing through timely responses, audit-ready documentation, process walkthroughs, site visits, and demonstration of effective controls and procedures.
  • Partner with internal and external resources on tax, compliance, and technical accounting matters.

Financial Planning & Analysis

  • Partner with the Vice President, Finance and assume progressively broader responsibility for FP&A activities.
  • Participate in the development of annual budgets and periodic forecasts.
  • Analyze financial performance, business drivers, variances, profitability trends, risks, and opportunities.
  • Develop financial models, scenario analyses, and ROI assessments to support investments and business decisions.
  • Partner with business leaders to develop meaningful financial and operational KPIs and track performance against objectives.
  • Translate financial data into clear, actionable insights and recommendations for leadership.
  • Lead and participate in continuous improvement initiatives that strengthen financial processes, reporting, controls, and ERP systems through greater efficiency, standardization, automation, and scalability.

The successful candidate will:

  • Own the numbers: Ensure financial results are accurate, controlled, understood, and delivered on time.
  • Develop people: Build a capable and accountable finance organization across geographic and functional boundaries.
  • Understand the business: Develop a strong understanding of operations, customers, products, and the drivers of financial performance.
  • Stay close to the work: Be willing to engage directly in analysis, problem-solving, and execution while maintaining a leadership perspective.
  • Look forward and improve continuously: Expand from historical accounting into forward-looking analysis while challenging the organization to continuously improve.
  • Think like an owner: Exercise sound business judgment and evaluate decisions based on risk, cash flow, return on investment, and sustainable long-term value creation.
