Description:

JTM Foods, LLC is seeking a hands-on, experienced Technical Supervisor – 3rd Shift to join our Chicago Engineering team. This position leads and develops maintenance personnel responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, and supporting bakery production and facility equipment.

The Technical Supervisor will direct shift maintenance activities, respond to equipment and operational issues, and partner closely with Production, Quality, Sanitation, and Safety to support equipment reliability, food safety, product quality, regulatory compliance, and continuous improvement.

**Shift Needed: **3rd Shift

Salary Range: $85,000 – $100,000 annually

Actual starting salary will be determined based on job-related factors, including relevant maintenance and food-manufacturing experience, technical knowledge and skills, supervisory experience, education and training, and internal equity.

Requirements: Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise, direct, coach, and develop maintenance personnel during the assigned shift.
  • Assign and prioritize work to support production requirements and respond effectively to equipment failures and operational emergencies.
  • Provide effective shift-to-shift communication regarding equipment conditions, open work orders, safety concerns, and maintenance priorities.
  • Identify equipment, utility, and facility deficiencies and ensure appropriate corrective and preventive actions are initiated and completed.
  • Assess technicians' technical and troubleshooting capabilities and provide ongoing training, coaching, and performance feedback.
  • Administer preventive maintenance activities and ensure work orders and preventive-maintenance records are accurately completed and closed in the Company's CMMS.
  • Troubleshoot equipment issues and coordinate repairs to improve equipment reliability, operational efficiency, and product quality.
  • Promote and enforce safe work practices, including applicable lockout/tagout, machine guarding, electrical safety, fall protection, PPE, hazard communication, and Company safety requirements.
  • Ensure equipment is maintained in a safe and sanitary operating condition.
  • Support compliance with GMPs, food safety, sanitation, GFSI, Food-SLIQ, and other applicable quality and regulatory requirements.
  • Partner with Production, Quality, Sanitation, Safety, Human Resources, vendors, contractors, and other departments to support efficient bakery operations.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance, training, inspection, safety, and other required documentation.
  • Support compliance with applicable collective bargaining agreements and Company policies and procedures.
  • Perform other job-related duties consistent with the position and operational needs.
Requirements

Qualifications & Skills

  • Experience: At least four years of maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment; food-manufacturing experience required.
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent required. Associate degree in Industrial Engineering Technology, Industrial Maintenance, Mechatronics, or a related field preferred.
  • Prior lead or supervisory experience required.
  • Strong working knowledge of manufacturing equipment, maintenance practices, troubleshooting, and preventive maintenance.
  • Experience with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, coach, train, motivate, and hold team members accountable.
  • Strong problem-solving, prioritization, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to effectively diagnose equipment issues and coordinate repairs in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel and Word, and ability to learn Company systems.
  • Ability to work effectively across departments and with employees, contractors, vendors, and management.
  • Commitment to workplace safety, food safety, product quality, and continuous improvement.

Work Environment

Work is performed primarily in an active food-manufacturing and maintenance environment. The employee may work around moving machinery, energized equipment, elevated work areas, noise, dust (including ingredient dust), refrigerants, cleaning agents, lubricants, and other chemicals. Work may involve hot, cold, humid, or otherwise variable temperatures. Required personal protective equipment and established safety procedures must be used.

Physical and Functional Requirements

  • Frequently stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, squat, reach, and use stairs; periodically sit while completing administrative or computer-based work.
  • Use hands and arms to handle tools, equipment, controls, and materials and to perform maintenance-related tasks.
  • Climb ladders or access elevated work areas when required and when authorized and trained to do so.
  • Lift, carry, position, or otherwise move tools, parts, and materials weighing up to approximately 75 pounds when the task requires it. Mechanical assistance, team lifting, or other safe material-handling methods must be used when appropriate.
  • Push, pull, position, or assist with movement of heavy equipment or components using appropriate mechanical aids, equipment, and safe work practices.
  • Communicate and exchange accurate information with employees and others; read and interpret work orders, manuals, labels, procedures, diagrams, and safety information; and observe equipment conditions and warning indicators, with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Work safely in areas where exposure to noise, dust, chemicals, temperature extremes, and heights may occur, using required controls and personal protective equipment.
