General Description

The Volunteer and Education Coordinator develops, maintains, and promotes a comprehensive volunteer program that supports all departments across the organization by recruiting, training, scheduling, and recognizing volunteers and serving as the primary liaison between volunteers and departmental managers. The position also provides administrative and operational support to the Education and Outreach Department and is responsible for assisting with coordinating program logistics, scheduling, purchasing, and other administrative functions that support the successful delivery of educational programming.

Monday-Friday 8:00AM-5:00PM

$17.00-$19.00/hr based on experience.

Requirements:

Responsibilities

Volunteers

· Works with department managers to identify volunteer support needs and develop volunteer position descriptions

· Works with the Director of Education and Exhibits to develop and manage the volunteer program budget

· Coordinates volunteer orientation, onboarding, training, and placement.

· Arranges appropriate volunteer training in collaboration with departmental staff

· Maintains volunteer records, schedules, assignments, background checks, and service-hour documentation

Education and Outreach

· Provides administrative support to the department, including special projects

· Assists with program, event, and staff scheduling

· Generates and distributes program proposals, confirmations, and event resumes

· Reconciles departmental credit card receipts

· Other duties as assigned

Education/Qualifications/Skills Required

• Associate of Arts or Science degree or equivalent combination of education and experience

• Two to Four years of experience in volunteer program administration, preferably in a non-profit setting

• Strong organizational and administrative skills with exceptional attention to detail

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

• Ability to manage multiple priorities while supporting the needs of several departments

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and database management software; experience with volunteer management software preferred

• Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with staff across the organization

• Ability to lift a minimum of 20 lbs and stand for long periods of time

Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including the occasional evening and/or wee
