  • Build and maintain relationships with creative technologists, agencies, architects, consultants, fabricators, technology partners, and other industry stakeholders.
  • Translate customer requirements, brand objectives, and experience narratives into creative vision presentations, prototypes, functional system designs, and compelling technology concepts.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary design teams to develop high-quality software-driven media systems that meet approved creative and functional requirements.
  • Participate in design reviews, assess feedback, and incorporate approved changes into concepts, prototypes, and system architectures.
  • Define and advise on real-time media pipeline architecture to support reliability, scalability, performance, and integration across experiential systems.
  • Evaluate and recommend tools, platforms, technologies, and development techniques based on creative objectives, technical feasibility, and production requirements.
  • Integrate third-party APIs, content management systems, AV hardware, media servers, show control, sensors, networks, and enterprise platforms into responsive, data-driven experiences.
  • Create experience concepts and communicate design intent through sketches, drawings, renderings, diagrams, storyboards, narratives, prototypes, and other visual materials.
  • Develop conceptual system architectures, functional narratives, block diagrams, ROM inputs, and basis-of-design documentation in collaboration with design and project engineering teams.
  • Support detailed engineering documentation, equipment lists, preconstruction reviews, technical pricing, and identification of logistical challenges.
  • Provide technical design support to project installation teams and serve as a customer liaison for engineering and technical inquiries.
  • Evaluate products and emerging technologies with vendors and prospective vendors to identify solutions that can enhance experiential projects.
  • Provide post-sales design consultation throughout engineering, fabrication, installation, programming, commissioning, and handoff to preserve approved creative and functional intent.
  • Review engineering deliverables for alignment with approved experience concepts, software architecture, interaction requirements, and functional design intent.
  • Support user acceptance testing, project handoffs, documentation, and ongoing improvements to experiential technology systems.
  • Travel to project sites nationally and internationally as required.

Requirements:

  • Typically 8–10 years of relevant professional experience, or an equivalent combination of technical depth, project experience, and education.
  • Demonstrated experience designing and delivering experiential AV systems, interactive installations, immersive environments, or other technology-enabled experiences.
  • Previous experience in an experiential design consultancy, creative agency, production studio, systems integration environment, creative fabrication firm, or similar setting.
  • Strong customer-facing communication skills and the ability to communicate professionally and effectively with clients, colleagues, partners, and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Ability to independently develop creative technical solutions while collaborating effectively with others and balancing multiple deadlines and priorities.
  • Strong troubleshooting capabilities across integrated AV, media, control, network, sensor, and software systems.
  • Advanced computer skills for designing, configuring, developing, testing, and operating AV and technology systems.
  • Proficiency in rapidly prototyping and developing production-ready interactive experiences using Python or JavaScript and TouchDesigner or a comparable real-time media platform.
  • Experience integrating APIs, content management systems, AV hardware, media servers, show control, sensors, networks, and enterprise platforms into reliable site-specific experiences.
  • Knowledge of version control and modern software development practices supporting development, testing, documentation, system integration, and internal tooling.
  • Ability to design real-time media pipelines and translate experimental prototypes into dependable production systems with clear documentation, support plans, and handoff materials.
  • Ability to diagnose complex technical issues and approach challenging design problems with a practical, solutions-oriented mindset.
  • Ability to travel nationally and internationally and work effectively across US time zones, with occasional meetings outside normal local working hours.
  • Valid driver's license and a motor vehicle record that meets applicable driving standards.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Formal education in electronics, experiential design, interaction design, media arts, computer science, engineering, architecture, or a related field is preferred.
