Job Description

Job Summary: Responsible for planning, organizing, directing, integrating and controlling the activities of the employees who provide occupational health services, occupational on-site health management services, employee health services and occupational sales/marketing.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provides expertise and counsel to client companies in matters of occupational health and safety, workers' compensation and any other relevant areas of occupational medicine.
  • Possess strong general business knowledge, skills and awareness, as well as relevant technical and professional skills. Establish and maintain formal and informal networks and relationships with key stakeholders both inside and outside the organization.
  • Implements standards of nursing practice annually reviewing and revising as necessary to reflect changes in nursing practice for both occupational and employee health standards.
  • Maintains liaison activities with client companies to provide a continuum of interest and credibility through personal communication efforts.
  • Maintains clear, concise and current written policies and procedures that are available to assist the staff and minimize risk factors.
  • Schedules medical screening on all candidates offered employment. Reviews laboratory, radiology and physical examination prior to employment.
  • Implements annual and bi-annual health assessment programs. Reviewing medical test results with employee and provides health counseling and education. Is responsible for immunizations as recommended by the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and the Infection Control Committee.
  • Assists employee injuries/illnesses that occur in the work place, surveying work environments for potential reduction of hazards. Manages injuries and illnesses of employees from onset to resolution. Provides on-going information to the employee’s department director/supervisor and assists in return-to-work initiatives.
  • Recommends modifications, additions or deletions of personnel to ensure reasonable hours and acceptable working conditions to provide department coverage.
  • Maintains close coordination with all departments to ensure continuity and collaboration of services.
  • Performs all aspects of patient care in an environment that optimizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood of medical/health care errors.
  • Active participant in the hospital safety and infection control committees and interfaces with the personnel responsible for those committees.
  • Establish and maintain access to KSWebIZ for proper documentation of immunizations.
  • Establish and maintain access to NHSN for documenting data (ie. Covid status and Annual Flu Immunizations)
  • Plans and recommends to Administration new facilities or equipment or modifications thereto needed to provide covered or new services.
  • Plans and coordinates with Director of Human Resources and Chief Financial Officer for budgeting requirements for personnel, performance of work, supplies and equipment.
  • Responsible for cost controls to ensure maximum effectiveness of funds expended from approved departmental budgets.
  • Implements an effective, ongoing program to measure, assess and improve the quality of care delivered to clients and reports as required.

Regulatory Requirements:

  • Active Kansas RN license.
  • COHN or COHN-S required or in process
  • Department of Transportation Collection Certification
  • Department of Transportation Breath Alcohol Technician Certification
  • Minimum of two (2) years prior experience in patient care services.
