Special Needs Caregiver Needed in Columbia, South Carolina at Palmetto Family Homecare LLC

Palmetto Family Homecare is seeking a compassionate, patient, and dependable caregiver to assist a client with CHARGE syndrome. The ideal candidate will provide companionship, supervision, and assistance with daily personal care while promoting the client's comfort, safety, dignity, and independence. The client is non-verbal and communicates using a communication device. The caregiver must be attentive, patient, and willing to learn and support the client's individual communication needs.

• Provide supervision and companionship to promote safety & engagement
• Assist with showering and personal hygiene
• Provide assistance with getting dressed and maintaining personal care routines
• Prepare light meals or snacks as needed; client is able to feed themselves
• Learn and support the clients use of their communication device
• Communicate changes in client to family and document in service notes accordingly

Desired Schedule

Monday and Thursday 3:30pm - 6:30pm

Saturday 10am - 2pm

• At-least 2-3 years of caregiving experience
• Experience & knowledge of working with client with special needs
• Comfortable with providing personal care, including showering & dressing assistance
• Willingness to learn & support non-verbal communication methods
• Ability to follow care instructions and respect the client's privacy and dignity
• Reliable transportation with a valid drivers license
• CPR certification is preferred but not required
