This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for a Manager - Payroll in India.
You will join a global payroll operations hub responsible for managing end-to-end payroll delivery across multiple APAC regions in a large multinational environment. In this role, you will oversee payroll execution, compliance, reporting, and governance while ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and adherence to local statutory requirements. You will lead and develop a team of payroll professionals, acting as both an operational manager and a strategic partner to HR, Finance, and global payroll stakeholders. The environment is highly regulated and detail-oriented, requiring strong control discipline and confidentiality. You will also drive process improvements, automation initiatives, and continuous optimization of payroll systems and workflows. This is a high-responsibility leadership role where your work directly impacts employee experience and financial compliance across multiple countries.
- Lead end-to-end payroll operations for India and multiple APAC countries, ensuring accurate and timely payroll processing.
- Manage, mentor, and develop payroll teams, including team leaders and individual contributors.
- Oversee payroll approvals, sign-offs, and payment validation processes in line with internal controls.
- Ensure full compliance with statutory regulations, tax laws, and company payroll policies across regions.
- Coordinate with HR, Finance, global payroll teams, and external vendors to resolve payroll issues and ensure smooth operations.
- Prepare and submit monthly, quarterly, and annual payroll reports and statutory filings.
- Drive continuous improvement of payroll systems, processes, and controls to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
- Identify and implement automation opportunities and strengthen internal control frameworks.
- Manage internal and external audits related to payroll operations.
- Ensure proper documentation, data confidentiality, and adherence to governance standards.
- Oversee workforce planning, succession planning, and workload distribution within the payroll team.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field.
- 15+ years of payroll experience, including multi-country exposure across APAC regions.
- 5+ years of people management experience in payroll or shared services environments.
- Strong knowledge of payroll regulations, tax laws, and compliance frameworks across APAC countries.
- Hands-on experience with payroll systems such as Workday, SAP, and ADP GlobalView.
- Experience working in large multinational or global shared services environments.
- Strong leadership, team management, and stakeholder coordination skills.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and process improvement capabilities.
- High attention to detail with strong focus on accuracy, confidentiality, and compliance.
- Ability to work under pressure, manage deadlines, and handle sensitive payroll data responsibly.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills for cross-functional collaboration.
