This role sits at the center of a global supply chain organization, responsible for managing strategic supplier relationships within the metal machining commodity space. The position plays a key role in ensuring cost efficiency, quality excellence, and on-time delivery across a complex manufacturing ecosystem. You will engage closely with engineering, procurement, and operations teams to qualify suppliers, drive performance improvements, and secure long-term supply continuity. The environment is highly international, fast-paced, and data-driven, requiring strong cross-functional collaboration and commercial acumen. You will also contribute to supplier strategy development and risk mitigation initiatives that directly impact production stability and business growth. This is a high-visibility role where your decisions influence supply resilience and operational excellence at scale.
In this role, you will manage end-to-end supplier relationships and ensure alignment with organizational sourcing and manufacturing objectives. You will be responsible for supplier performance management, strategic sourcing support, and continuous improvement across the metal machining supply base.
- Build, maintain, and strengthen strategic relationships with key machining suppliers while acting as the primary escalation point for supplier-related issues.
- Identify, qualify, and develop new suppliers while ensuring alignment with cost, quality, capacity, and technical requirements.
- Monitor and evaluate supplier KPIs including cost, delivery performance, quality standards, and lead times, driving corrective actions where needed.
- Collaborate with engineering and cross-functional teams to qualify new components, materials, and suppliers aligned with technical specifications.
- Lead commercial negotiations, contract discussions, and pricing strategies to achieve cost optimization and favorable business terms.
- Conduct supplier capability and capacity assessments to mitigate supply chain risks and ensure business continuity.
- Support global sourcing strategies, supplier onboarding/offboarding, and resolution of systemic supply chain challenges.
The ideal candidate brings strong expertise in manufacturing, sourcing, or supply chain management with a deep understanding of machining processes and supplier development. You combine technical knowledge with strong negotiation and stakeholder management skills in a global environment.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Production Engineering, or a related technical field.
- 10+ years of experience in manufacturing, procurement, sourcing, or supply chain management.
- Strong knowledge of metal machining processes and technical drawing interpretation.
- Proven experience (5+ years) in leading commercial negotiations with large suppliers.
- Experience managing supplier relationships in a global, matrixed organization.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a data-driven mindset.
- Excellent communication, influencing, and stakeholder management abilities.
- Familiarity with tools such as Excel, PowerPoint, SAP, or Ariba is an advantage.
- Willingness to travel (~25%) and work across global time zones as required.
