Hyperloop Market - Market Associate (Copy) in Bastrop, Texas at The Boring Company

The Boring Company was founded to solve the problem of soul-destroying traffic by creating an underground network of tunnels. Today, we are creating the technology to increase tunneling speed and decrease costs by a factor of 10 or more with the ultimate goal of making Hyperloop adoption viable and enabling rapid transit across densely populated regions.
The Boring company is working on revolutionizing products and part of this vision is our onsite Market, The Boring Bodega, that is open to employees as well as the general public. The Boring Bodega offers fresh food, groceries, onsite barbershop, and more! We are looking for additional part-time Market Associates who are able to work 20-30 hours per week.
Requirements:

• Welcoming Attitude: You play a major role in how our customers feel when they leave the store. You might be the first, last, and sometimes only representation of The Boring Company a customer interacts with. That's why it's so important to smile, greet, and thank every customer.
• Calm Under Pressure: The pace can be intense, especially in the evenings, weekends, and holiday seasons. There are times when you must juggle several tasks in a short amount of time while helping customers - all associates support Boring Bodega (including food and beverage preparation) and Prufrock Pub (including bartending).
• Adaptability: ALL associates need to be available on Fridays, the busiest day. We try to offer as much notice as possible for shift schedules, but scheduling needs may vary with events, etc.
• Initiative & Ownership: Our Associates are expected to support opening, closing, and/or other duties with a high level of autonomy and independence. Be proud of the efforts you make for the store. Notice some trash on the ground? Toss it! Have an idea for the menu? Pitch it!
• Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission (TABC) certification
• Food Handler's certification

Basic Qualifications

• Smile, greet, and thank customers with a positive attitude
• Stand for long periods of time while checking out customers quickly and accurately
• Keep your area clean and presentable
• Answer customer questions and help them with their needs
• Be available to assist associates across the store as needed

Preferred Skills and Experience

• Active TABC certification
• Active Food Handler's certification
• Experience in a retail, market, restaurant, bar or hospitality space
• Strong organizational skills
• Ability to efficiently multitask and work within timelines
• Ability to work independently, with little to no oversight, and as part of a team
• Strong verbal communication skills
