Job Description
SUMMARY
The District Manager for Sam’s Xpress is responsible for managing all aspects of operations for a group of stores; while focusing on improving both productivity and profitability. The District Manager serves as a role model for all levels of management by displaying strong leadership skills and sound business sense. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Act as a liaison to integrate corporate processes and policies between stores and corporate office
- Hire, train, motivate, evaluate, counsel, and develop Sam’s Xpress Car Wash managers
- Assist management team in goal setting, coaching, business process, performance management, and problem resolution
- Coach management team on reporting, expense control, employee management, recruiting, budget, inventory, organization, maintenance, and customer service
- Instruct management team on accounting systems and processes, review accounting records, and all financial aspects of the business
- Responsible for ordering supplies and equipment, and managing inventory in your district
- Analyze industry trends and implement new scopes to achieve maximum revenue and profitability
- Manage all payroll, cash, inventory, and communicate with regional leaders as needed
- Manage all customer claims; including effective and friendly communication with impacted customers
- Follow up on all communications, voicemail, email, and paper mail in a timely manner
- Manage vendor relationships as they impact stores in your district
- Other duties as assigned by the Director of Operations
Supervisory Responsibilities
This position supervises a team of 5-10 Site Managers
QUALIFICATIONS
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum of 3 years of experience at Sam's Xpress Car Wash as a site manager
- A minimum of 5+ years’ progressive management experience
- Excellent communication skills both verbal and written
- Must be self-motivated with the ability to organize and prioritize and manage multiple tasks
- Must be able to maintain a flexible full-time schedule including working in the evenings and on weekends
- Must be self-motivated and flexible to accommodate changes in business strategies
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
- Proficient with digital personal devices (i.e. smart phone/tablet)
- Must have a valid driver’s license with a good driving record, and be open to a driving record check
- Proven leadership, interpersonal, decision-making skills
- Whether it is dealing with employees, management, or vendors; you will have to make decisions that affect the company. Having the ability to make hard and fast decisions is crucial to your success
- High level knowledge of mechanical, technical, and understanding of car wash equipment and services
- Sense of urgency, and the ability to adapt to change
- Ability to train, coach, and motivate employees
- Proven history in successfully coaching managers
- Working knowledge of the car wash industry
- Due to the financial aspects of the job, the incumbent must also have business acumen and an aptitude for basic math functions, and be able to do calculations such as: addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and figuring percentages
• Must have strong ethical leadership to ensure that we are good stewards of company funds
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- A Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Management, and/or College level course work related to business management preferred
- 2 years preferred in multi-site management
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
- This position requires the ability to move between locations, therefore the ability to drive daily, as well as pass a quarterly Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) is a requirement of this position. This position also requires several hours of standing, walking, sitting, stooping, bending, twisting, lifting, operating equipment, as well as working on and with both equipment and chemicals.
- Must be able to lift up to 30 lbs.
WORK ENVIRONMENT

- This position will be exposed to element of outside weather for the majority of their role, as well as occasional office climates.
- Must be able to maintain a flexible full-time schedule including working in the evenings and on weekends.
- Hours of work include, but are not limited to, the hours of operation. Current hours of operation are 7 days a week, 7:30am-9pm, closing only on December 25th. Typical work hours are Monday – Friday - 8am-5pm
