Location: Hybrid- Remote with some travel to on-site location in Blackstone, VA.

Position Summary

The part-time Occupational Health Physician provides virtual oversight and supervisory support for the Department of State occupational health clinic at the Blackstone Site, dedicating approximately eight hours per month to clinic operations. The role includes supervising mid-levels, reviewing and updating clinical and occupational health protocols, and overseeing medical surveillance and CLIA-waived laboratory services. The physician supports quality assurance efforts through quarterly reviews of redacted patient cases and provides guidance on formulary approvals, medical supplies, testing kits, and medications. The clinic supports workplace health needs through injury management, medical surveillance exams, lead exposure testing, vaccinations, and urgent care stabilization and referral services for DOS personnel. The physician ensures clinic operations remain compliant with OSHA standards, Department of State requirements, and applicable patient privacy and medical recordkeeping regulations. While services are primarily provided remotely, occasional onsite visits may be conducted as mutually agreed upon, with travel coordinated and funded by Valor Healthcare.

Core Responsibilities

  • Provide part-time virtual oversight of occupational health clinic operations
  • Supervise the onsite Physician Assistant as the supervising physician
  • Review, update, and maintain clinic clinical protocols
  • Oversee occupational medical surveillance services and related protocols
  • Supervise CLIA-waived laboratory operations and testing procedures
  • Review and approve clinic formulary additions and medication requests
  • Sponsor procurement of medically appropriate supplies, testing kits, and medications
  • Conduct quarterly quality assurance reviews of redacted patient cases
  • Provide evaluations and recommendations for clinical quality improvement
  • Support treatment and management processes for workplace injuries and exposures
  • Ensure clinic compliance with OSHA, Department of State, and patient privacy regulations
  • Participate in periodic onsite clinic reviews as mutually agreed upon
Requirements:

Qualifications

  • Board Certified in Occupational Medicine
  • Active and unrestricted physician license in the Commonwealth of Virginia
  • Current Curriculum Vitae (CV) required
  • Ability to provide part-time occupational health oversight services (approximately 8 hours per month)
  • Experience supervising PRNs and mid-levels in a clinical setting
  • Knowledge of OSHA regulations and occupational health compliance standards
  • Experience with occupational medical surveillance programs and workplace injury management
  • Familiarity with CLIA-waived laboratory oversight and clinical quality assurance processes
  • Ability to review and update clinical protocols and formulary items
  • Strong understanding of patient confidentiality, medical records management, and data privacy requirements
  • Ability to provide virtual oversight services with occasional onsite support as needed
  • Experience supporting government, Department of State, or occupational health clinic environments preferred
  • Must be a United States citizen or permanent resident

This job is CONTINGENT upon contract award, client approval, completion of a favorable background investigation, and the ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust / High Risk clearance.

Final compensation will be based on relevant factors including work experience, skills, certifications, and internal equity.
