Job Title: Accounting Manager
Payrate: $90k-$125k DOE, exempt
Department: Accounting
Report To: Chief Financial Officer
Working Hours: Onsite, Schedule may vary depending on company needs
JOB SUMMARY
The Accounting Manager role plays a key part in the monthly close and financial reporting process, with a strong emphasis on accuracy, reconciliation integrity, and understanding the drivers behind financial results. The Accounting Manager will ensure financial results are complete and reliable in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and applicable government contracting requirements.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
• Lead the accounting department team including GL, AP, and AR functions.
• Maintain general ledger integrity and ERP data accuracy assuring Subledger reconciles to General Ledger and Bank Reconciliations are timely performed every month.
• Review trial balance during close for errors and reclassifications insuring all accounts.
• Manage the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statement closings are in accordance with GAAP.
• Oversee inventory valuation and physical inventory audits.
• Maintain and improve a system of controls over accounting transactions.
• Maintain the Inventory and Fixed Asset sub-ledger details.
• Period-end processing for each module in SAGE 100.
• Provide management with timely reviews of the financial status, including the preparation of financial statements and certain plant metrics.
• Coordinate the provision of information for the annual CPA review & tax filing of internal financials.
• Lead and participate with internal and external financial reviews and audits.
• Ensure adherence to internal controls and financial policies to mitigate risks.
• Collaborate with Finance Manger assuring all key data and accounting information is accurate and validated.
• Other duties may incorporate: Interviewing, hiring, planning, assigning, managing process, rewarding, disciplining employees, performance reviews, addressing complaints, and resolving problems.
• Administer corporate credit card program, including user access, policy compliance, and reconciliation
• Develops and implements new accounting procedures by analyzing current procedures; recommending improvements.
• Identify and implement efficiencies in accounting processes and financial systems
• Administer and support ERP, payroll, and any 3rd party system leading any continuous improvement of accounting software.
• Provide training, performance evaluations, and career development support for the team.
• Comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements.
• Assume other duties as assigned.
Requirements:PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Will occasionally stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle and feel, reach with hands and arms, talk and hear, taste and smell.
- Will frequently sit and occasionally climb or balance and stoop, kneel crouch or crawl.
- Must use both hands for rapid mental muscular coordination simultaneously.
- Must be able to reach high and low levels, frequently.
- Must be able to push/pull/lift with arms below waist/at shoulder/above shoulder level up to 30 pounds frequently.
- Must lift with arms up to floor to waist, waist to shoulder 30 pounds.
- Must be able to constantly stand/stoop/walk/bend, up to 12 hrs.
- Ability to strenuous flex/grip with wrist/hands frequently (15 flexions/minute).
- Use of keyboard and mouse for an extended period.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
- May work near moving mechanical parts.
- May work around wet or humid conditions, in high, precarious places, fumes or airborne particles, outdoor weather conditions, extreme cold (non-weather), extreme heat (non-weather), risk of electrical shock, and/or risk of vibration.
QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS
- Minimum 5 – 7 years’ experience with steady progression through management ranks, preferably in an agricultural manufacturing business.
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, CMA, and/or MBA preferred.
- Ability to confidently present information to executive management.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills and knowledge of current Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy and completeness of work product
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Advanced MS Office skills (Excel), proficient with Pivot Tables and Analysis.
