About the Position:

As the Deli PIC at Pilgrim's Market, you will oversee the deli department when the Deli Manager is not on duty. You will be responsible for ensuring smooth operations, managing staff, and maintaining high standards of food quality and customer service. This position requires leadership skills, as you will be responsible for the department's daily activities, including food preparation, customer service, and inventory management.

Key Responsibilities:

• Leadership & Supervision: Oversee the deli department in the absence of the Deli Manager, ensuring all operations run efficiently. Supervise and guide deli associates to ensure excellent customer service and compliance with store procedures.
• Food Preparation & Quality Control: Ensure that all deli items, including sandwiches, smoothies, hot meals, and rotisserie chickens, are prepared according to Pilgrim's Market's quality standards. Maintain food safety practices throughout the department.
• Customer Service: Engage with customers, assist with product selection, and address customer inquiries or concerns. Provide a positive and welcoming experience to enhance customer satisfaction.
• Inventory & Ordering: Assist with inventory management, ensuring stock levels are adequate and placing orders as necessary. Help control costs by minimizing waste and ensuring efficient use of resources.
• Department Cleanliness & Organization: Maintain cleanliness and organization in the deli area, ensuring the department is always in compliance with food safety standards. Clean and sanitize surfaces, equipment, and utensils as needed.
• Operational Support: Support the implementation of best practices for food preparation, customer service, and inventory management. Ensure that all department processes are followed for smooth operations.
• Team Support & Development: Help train and mentor deli associates, ensuring they have the necessary skills to provide excellent customer service and perform their duties efficiently. Provide guidance and support for new team members.

Essential Requirements:

• Leadership Skills: At least four years of management experience, preferably in food service, with prior experience in a food service or retail environment and the ability to take charge and manage the team in the Deli Manager's absence.
• Food Preparation Knowledge: Strong understanding of deli food preparation, food safety, and hygiene standards. Experience with kitchen equipment such as deli slicers, ovens, and rotisserie units.
• Customer Service Excellence: Ability to engage with customers, answer questions, and provide a positive, helpful service experience.
• Organizational Skills: Ability to handle multiple tasks, prioritize, and manage department workflows efficiently.
• Physical Requirements: Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, stand for long periods, and perform repetitive lifting, bending, and squatting. Ability to work in both hot and cold environments for extended periods.
• Food Safety Compliance: Knowledge of food safety regulations and the ability to enforce these standards.
• Flexibility: Willingness to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
