Human Resources & Payroll Coordinator
Rosario Assisted Living & Cypress Assisted Living
Anacortes, WA
We are seeking a Human Resources & Payroll Coordinator to serve as the primary on-site HR resource supporting both Rosario Assisted Living and Cypress Assisted Living. This role partners closely with the CEO and leadership team to support employees and leaders through effective HR practices, payroll administration, employee relations, onboarding, and compliance.
The ideal candidate is highly organized, approachable, and committed to creating a positive employee experience. This position works across two assisted living communities and requires strong relationship-building skills, sound judgment, and the ability to balance multiple priorities in a fast-paced healthcare environment. Experience supporting union-represented employees or working in a unionized setting is preferred.
Role Overview
The Human Resources & Payroll Coordinator manages day-to-day HR and payroll functions in the facility. In collaboration with the ALF CEO and Home Office HR, this role supports employee relations from hire through separation, ensures compliance, and helps foster a positive, respectful workplace culture.
Key Responsibilities
- Partner closely with ALF CEO to support employee relations, leadership decisions, and a positive work environment.
- Serve as a trusted HR presence for employees and leaders across departments.
- Manage the full employee lifecycle, including onboarding, performance management, corrective action, and terminations.
- Maintain accurate, compliant personnel files and HR records.
- Coordinate background checks and onboarding requirements prior to employee contact with residents.
- Process payroll and submit timekeeping and employee changes in accordance with established timelines.
- Support benefits administration, open enrollment, and employee questions.
- Report and track workplace injuries and workers’ compensation documentation.
- Assist with recruitment efforts in partnership with Talent Acquisition as needed.
- Collaborate with the Cascadia Home Office Human Resources team to implement policies, programs, and initiatives.
- Maintain confidentiality and demonstrate professionalism in all matters.
- Act as a neutral, fair, and approachable HR resource.
- Support a culture of respect, accountability, teamwork, and open communication.
- Work collaboratively across three communities while adapting to the needs of each.
- Handle sensitive matters with discretion, empathy, and consistency.
Requirements:
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred
Certifications
- PHR or SPHR preferred
Experience
- Minimum of one year of HR and/or payroll experience preferred
- Healthcare experience preferred
- Union experience a plus
