The Opportunity

Lesley University is seeking an adjunct faculty member to supervise an independent study for the doctoral program during the Fall 2026 Term I.

Independent Study Title: Practitioner Review: Organizational Knowledge

Course Description

This course explores institutional and cultural knowledge stewardship through the lens of survivance. Students examine mechanisms for protecting and sustaining collective knowledge, with particular attention to how communities and organizations maintain cultural continuity across generations while navigating change, disruption, displacement, and coloniality. Rather than treating knowledge as a resource to be managed, the course approaches knowledge as a living relationship requiring reciprocity, accountability, and care.

The course models the practices it examines through participatory inquiry, story exchange, collaborative meaning-making, and the co-creation of resources designed to support knowledge stewardship at organizational, institutional, or tribal levels.

Qualities and Capabilities

The independent study will be conducted in accordance with university guidelines for graduate independent studies. A successful candidate will have:

• A PhD or terminal degree in Education, Literacy, or a closely related field (required)

• Strong supervisory, teaching, and mentorship skills
