About Inwood Academy for Leadership

Reports To: ES After School Program Coordinator
Hours: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday: 3:00–5:30 PM; Wednesday: 2:00–5:30 PM
One day per week: Available until 6:00 PM
Pay: $17/hour
Program: September 2026–June 2027
Requirements:
Enrolled in a post-secondary program is preferred, but not required
Excellent written and verbal communications skills
Duties and Responsibilities:
Welcome and engage students in kindergarten through second grade and fifth grade in homework help and enrichment activities
Work with students both individually and in groups to deliver the IALES After School Program to assigned students
Share program information and expectations with families
Assist the Program Coordinator in tracking attendance and managing program supplies
Communicate proactively with Program Coordinator staff to provide feedback and highlight challenges and successes
Tutor students in reading and math using the assigned curriculum, with adjustments to meet students’ grade level needs
Assist with curriculum and craft preparation as needed
Collaborate with peers and Program Coordinator to support lesson planning and classroom activity development
Demonstrate a willingness to learn and grow within the role
Attend trainings as scheduled by the Program Coordinator
Perform other duties as assigned
Oversee snack and movement time
Ensure students are safe in all spaces
Be observant during work hours and uphold the phone-free work hours policy
Assist in cleaning space and ensuring classrooms are back to their original state each day
Preferred Qualifications & Skills:
Experience in tutoring, mentoring, childcare, or afterschool programming.
Interest in education, youth development, or a related field
Strong communication and collaboration skills.
Bilingual in Spanish and English.
Demonstrates patience, flexibility, and a positive attitude.
Brings energy and enthusiasm to engage students and contribute to a lively classroom environment.
Comfortable supporting both academic learning and creative enrichment.
