GL Claims Specialist

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a GL Claims Specialist based in United States.

This fully remote role offers the opportunity to take ownership of a diverse portfolio of General Liability claims from initial report through resolution.
You will apply strong claims expertise to assess coverage, liability, damages, and overall exposure.
The position combines independent decision-making with regular collaboration across customers, agents, attorneys, underwriters, and other partners.
You will investigate complex claim details, establish appropriate reserves, negotiate settlements, and drive timely outcomes.
The role requires sound judgment, strong communication, and a commitment to fair and effective claim resolution.
You will also identify recovery and potential fraud opportunities while maintaining accurate and compliant claim records.

Accountabilities
  • Manage an assigned portfolio of General Liability claims through investigation, evaluation, negotiation, and final resolution.
  • Investigate coverage, liability, and damages by gathering and assessing information from insureds, claimants, witnesses, attorneys, and other relevant parties.
  • Analyze policy provisions and prepare required claim correspondence in accordance with applicable laws, regulations, and established guidelines.
  • Evaluate claim exposures, establish and maintain appropriate reserves, and negotiate fair and timely settlements within delegated authority.
  • Coordinate with defense counsel, experts, and external service providers on complex or litigated matters.
  • Identify and pursue appropriate recovery opportunities, including contribution and subrogation.
  • Maintain complete, accurate, and timely claim documentation, payments, and expense approvals within claims management systems.
  • Build effective working relationships with insureds, agents, underwriters, and internal stakeholders to provide a responsive and high-quality claims experience.
  • Recognize potential indicators of fraud and escalate or refer matters according to established procedures.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred, with relevant professional experience in claims or insurance.
  • Five or more years of commercial General Liability claims handling experience preferred.
  • Experience evaluating and resolving bodily injury and third-party property damage claims preferred.
  • Experience handling General Liability claims across Southern U.S. jurisdictions is preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of claims investigation, coverage analysis, exposure evaluation, negotiation, and resolution practices.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with customers, attorneys, agents, underwriters, and other business partners.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, organizational, time-management, and prioritization skills.
  • Demonstrated sound judgment and decision-making within delegated authority.
  • Ability to work independently in a remote environment while collaborating effectively with cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Proficiency with standard business software and claims management systems.
  • Applicable state claims adjuster licensure is preferred.
