Job Description

Data Modernization & Governance Consultant

This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for a Data Modernization & Governance Consultant in the United States.

This role is designed for a senior-level consultant who can act as a strategic connector between business, analytics, and IT teams to accelerate enterprise data modernization efforts. You will play a key role in shaping vision, defining practical governance models, and translating business needs into clear, actionable technical requirements. Working in a lean, high-impact environment, you will help structure fragmented data initiatives, improve alignment across stakeholders, and drive execution across multiple data, analytics, and AI workstreams. The position requires someone who can quickly create clarity in ambiguous settings and deliver executive-ready documentation that supports decision-making. You will collaborate across distributed teams in the US and India while supporting ongoing modernization, migration, and platform initiatives. This is a hands-on consulting role with immediate visibility and direct influence on program direction and delivery outcomes.

Accountabilities
  • Help define and document the end-to-end data modernization vision, ensuring alignment between business objectives and technical execution.
  • Establish practical data governance frameworks, including role-based access models and operating structures.
  • Act as a key bridge between business stakeholders, analytics teams, and IT, ensuring clear communication and alignment.
  • Translate complex business requirements into structured technical documentation, roadmaps, and execution plans.
  • Develop high-quality deliverables including executive presentations, status updates, decision logs, and program artifacts.
  • Support initiatives involving platforms such as Databricks, Denodo, Watson, and related data and AI ecosystems.
  • Bring structure and clarity to fragmented data migration, integration, and governance efforts across multiple workstreams.
  • Coordinate activities across geographically distributed teams, ensuring alignment between US and India-based resources.
  • Track progress, dependencies, risks, and key decisions across pilots, POCs, and ongoing modernization initiatives.
Requirements
  • Senior-level consulting experience with strong exposure to data modernization, analytics, or enterprise transformation programs.
  • Proven ability to operate effectively at the intersection of business, analytics, and IT organizations.
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, with experience engaging senior leadership.
  • Hands-on experience with data migration and modernization initiatives in complex enterprise environments.
  • Familiarity with Databricks is required; exposure to Denodo, Watson, Snowflake, or similar platforms is a strong advantage.
  • Ability to function in environments with governance constraints, approval processes, and cross-functional dependencies.
  • Strong documentation, storytelling, and executive communication skills, including the ability to produce polished leadership-ready materials.
  • Experience working independently in ambiguous environments while driving structure and clarity.
  • Background combining program delivery (PM/BA) with strong technical understanding and execution focus.
  • Experience in M&A-related data integration or transformation initiatives is highly beneficial.
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple priorities simultaneously.
Benefits
  • 100% remote work opportunity within the United States.
  • Full-time contract engagement (40 hours per week) for an initial 6-month duration, with potential extension.
  • Exposure to modern data and AI platforms in enterprise-scale environments.
  • Opportunity to work directly with senior leadership on high-impact modernization initiatives.
  • Flexible, US-time-zone-aligned work schedule.
  • Collaborative engagement across global, cross-functional teams.
  • High visibility role with direct influence on data strategy and execution.
  • Opportunity to shape foundational governance and modernization practices.
