This role plays a critical part in managing moderately complex auto claims litigation while ensuring fair, timely, and customer-focused resolutions. You will operate at the intersection of legal strategy, claims management, and member advocacy, handling cases involving bodily injury, property damage, and liability disputes. The position requires close collaboration with defense counsel, internal claims teams, and external partners to develop effective litigation strategies and settlement approaches. You will act as a key liaison throughout the litigation lifecycle, ensuring clarity, compliance, and strong communication with all stakeholders. With a strong focus on service quality, risk control, and regulatory adherence, this role directly impacts member outcomes and organizational integrity. It offers a dynamic environment where analytical thinking, negotiation, and legal coordination are essential.
- Manage moderately complex auto and property claims litigation, including cases involving injury, liability disputes, and coverage questions.
- Develop and execute litigation strategies, including defense and settlement approaches in collaboration with internal stakeholders and defense counsel.
- Serve as the primary liaison between members, attorneys, internal teams, and external law firms throughout the litigation process.
- Document case strategy, budgets, evaluations, negotiations, settlements, and trial decisions in a clear and compliant manner.
- Represent the organization in mediations, case conferences, and trials when required.
- Review, audit, and approve legal fees and vendor expenses while ensuring adherence to litigation handling standards.
- Monitor case progress, identify risks, and ensure timely resolution in accordance with legal and regulatory requirements.
- Drive process improvements and ensure high-quality service delivery across all litigation activities.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience (4+ years in related fields may substitute for degree requirements).
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in liability claims handling or litigation, including progressive exposure to complex cases.
- At least 2 years of customer-facing experience in claims or related environments.
- Active or obtainable state claims adjuster license within required timeframe.
- Strong understanding of auto casualty claims, insurance policies, and state regulatory requirements.
- Experience handling bodily injury and uninsured/underinsured motorist claims strongly preferred.
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to interpret legal and regulatory frameworks related to claims litigation.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Additional certifications such as CPCU, AIC, or SCLA are considered a plus.
- Competitive salary range: $85,040 – $157,820, with potential performance-based incentives.
