Job Description

Job Title: Assistant Case Manager / Special Education Teacher
Reports To: Compliance Manager or Regional Director


About the Role:

We're seeking an experienced Assistant Case Manager / Special Education Teacher to support students with disabilities while helping ensure compliance with special education programs and services. This unique hybrid role combines special education case management responsibilities with direct instructional support. You'll collaborate with teachers, families, administrators, and service providers to ensure students receive high quality educational programming while maintaining compliance with federal, state, and local requirements.


What You'll Do:

  • Coordinate and support IEP and 504 meetings while maintaining compliance with applicable regulations
  • Maintain accurate student records, documentation, and compliance reports
  • Monitor and support the implementation of special education services outlined in student IEPs
  • Collaborate with teachers, administrators, families, and outside agencies to address student needs and develop effective accommodations and supports
  • Assist with identifying student needs and developing individualized instructional strategies
  • Support testing accommodations and ensure students receive appropriate services during assessment windows
  • Design and deliver specialized instruction aligned with student IEP goals and the general education curriculum
  • Develop individualized educational goals, objectives, behavior plans, and transition plans
  • Evaluate student progress, analyze assessment data, and make recommendations regarding curriculum and instructional programming
  • Manage classroom organization and create a positive, productive learning environment
  • Utilize de-escalation techniques and behavior intervention strategies to support student success
  • Participate in meetings, professional development activities, and school-based committees
  • Perform other duties as assigned


What We're Looking For:

  • Master's degree in Special Education, Curriculum and Instruction, or a related field (degree may be in progress)
  • Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with LBS1 endorsement
  • Supervisor, Administrator, or Director of Special Education certification preferred (may be in progress)
  • Minimum of five years of special education experience
  • Strong knowledge of K to 12 special education laws, regulations, and best practices
  • Experience developing and implementing IEPs and individualized instructional plans
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and data-driven decision-making skills
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and demonstrate professionalism at all times
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and other web-based applications

Physical Requirements:

  • Sit, stand, walk, and move throughout classrooms and school environments as needed
  • Work on a computer for extended periods of time
  • Regularly interact with students, staff, and families throughout the school day
  • Work in school environments that may include stairs, varied temperatures, and other typical school conditions
