Job Summary

The Material Coordinator is a critical, cross-functional role responsible for overseeing and optimizing daily operations across Inventory, Shipping & Receiving, and Warehouse logistics. Moving beyond execution, the coordinator takes ownership of inventory integrity, data accuracy within our ERP system, and the seamless flow of materials to both internal production teams and external customers. This role requires a proactive problem-solver who can coordinate schedules, resolve discrepancies, and ensure a safe, efficient, and highly accurate supply chain operation.

This is a full-time, in-office position located in Hood River, Oregon.

Essential Job Functions

Inventory Management & Coordination

• Oversees physical inventory tracking and reconciliation; investigates and resolves cycle count discrepancies to maintain high database accuracy.

• Coordinates the picking, kitting, and stage-processing of parts for Work Orders, ensuring production lines are feeding smoothly and without delay.

• Audits and maintains precise ERP records regarding quantity, material type, equipment, and supply valuations, proactively flagging shortages that could impact production schedules.

• Designs and implements efficient zoning, sorting, and shelving strategies for materials based on usage frequency and safety protocols.

Shipping, Receiving & Logistics

• Manages and optimizes daily shipping and receiving schedules, aligning with carriers and internal teams to prevent bottlenecks.

• Conducts final compliance audits on outgoing shipments to ensure documentation, packaging, and orders perfectly align.

• Inspects incoming freight for damage or variance; takes the lead on partnering with Purchasing, Quality, and vendors to swiftly resolve claims and logistical hiccups.

• Generates and analyzes key inventory and shipping reports to identify trends, process gaps, or opportunities for efficiency gains.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Other Characteristics

• Associate’s degree or higher preferred.

• Experience with ERP/MRP systems, shipping/handling methods, and domestic/international carriers.

• Strong analytical and organizational skills to identify root causes of inventory or shipping errors.

• Highly motivated self-starter able to work independently and manage priorities in a fast-paced environment.

• Flexible and solutions-oriented when handling shifting priorities and tight deadlines.

• Strong interpersonal skills to partner effectively with Purchasing, Production, and external vendors.

Work environment

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job in an office and manufacturing environment. This position operates out of the Production area, production areas may experience moderate to high noise levels due to machinery, equipment, and packaging processes. Hearing protection may be required in designated areas. Temperature in the warehouse may vary with seasonal conditions and may not be climate-controlled. The employee may be exposed to moving mechanical parts, forklifts, carts, pallet jacks and other typical hazards of an industrial setting; appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) will be provided and must be worn as required.
