  • Identify technical debt, prioritize modernization opportunities, and implement practical solutions that support long-term platform health.
  • Communicate project status, technical risks, trade-offs, and strategic recommendations to leadership and key stakeholders.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 8+ years of professional software engineering experience, including significant experience working with complex enterprise or legacy systems.
  • 2+ years of experience in a technical leadership role such as Engineering Manager, Technical Lead, Principal Engineer, or Staff Engineer.
  • Proven ability to lead engineering teams while remaining technically engaged and credible.
  • Experience managing globally distributed and offshore engineering teams.
  • Strong understanding of software architecture, system design, code quality practices, and modern software development methodologies.
  • Experience modernizing legacy platforms within regulated industries such as healthcare, financial services, insurance, or benefits administration is highly desirable.
  • Proficiency with enterprise application architectures, relational databases, system integrations, batch processing, and scalable backend systems.
  • Experience implementing AI-assisted or agent-based development practices to improve engineering productivity and software delivery.
  • Knowledge of data warehousing, data modeling, ETL processes, and enterprise reporting solutions.
  • Experience with SSIS, SSRS, ETL modernization initiatives, and enterprise data integration workflows is preferred.
  • Strong project management, planning, prioritization, and delivery management skills.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities, with the capacity to translate technical concepts into business value.
  • Demonstrated success balancing platform stability, modernization efforts, regulatory requirements, and business objectives.
  • Ability to mentor engineers, develop talent, and build high-performing technical teams.
