About the Role
Join the launch team of CANTEEN, a brand-new cafeteria inside the WSA Building—a 700,000 sq. ft. creative campus where fashion, arts, culture, and technology intersect. We’re seeking an experienced Floor Supervisor who can set the pace, uphold standards, and support a small, high-performing team ( about 4 to 6 Team Members) during this opening phase.
What You’ll Do
Shift Leadership
● Lead daily operations: set station assignments, pace service, manage breaks, and ensure smooth opening/closing routines.
Quality Control
● Dial in grinders, calibrate espresso, maintain recipes, and audit drink and food-service execution.
Guest Experience
● Foster a warm, professional service environment; handle guest recovery with clarity and poise.
Training & Coaching
● Onboard, coach, and reinforce consistent standards for a growing café team.
Cross-Department Collaboration
● Work closely with the Bakery, Kitchen/Chefs, Retail, and Purchasing teams to ensure seamless service and communication across departments.
Inventory & Ordering
● Track pars, place orders, receive deliveries, rotate stock, minimize waste, and perform monthly inventory.
Health & Safety
● Uphold all NYC Food Protection guidelines while maintaining a pristine bar, service line, and front -of-house.
Facilities & Vendor Coordination
● Address small maintenance needs and communicate with building management and external vendors as needed.
Event Support
● Support Operations with tastings/samplings, and special activations within the building.
Non Negotiables:
● Prior opening experience in a café, fast casual venue, or similar environment.
● Fast casual experience AND barista experience (manual espresso machines).
● 4+ years total front-of-house experience in high-volume settings.
● 3+ years shift-lead or supervisor experience.
● Active NYC Food Protection Certificate.
● Knowledge of Toast strongly preferred.
● Ability to collaborate across departments: Bakery, Kitchen/Chefs, Retail, and Purchasing.
● Strong precision with recipes, high speed under pressure, and clear communication.
● Full availability between the hours of 6:30am and 6:30pm
● Ability to stand for long periods and lift up to ~20 lbs.
