Are you a detail-driven financial professional with a passion for precision and compliance? We’re seeking an experienced Accounting Manager to join our team in Johnstown, PA. The Accounting Manager will lead our accounting operations and ensure the integrity of our financial reporting. In this pivotal role, you’ll oversee day-to-day accounting activities, implement robust financial controls, and ensure full adherence to internal policies and external regulations.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Supervise the day-to-day activities within the accounting function, ensuring that all transactions are processed efficiently and in accordance with established procedures.
- Oversee the month-end closing process, including the coordination and review of work completed by other members of the Finance team, to help ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial reporting.
- Support compliance efforts by monitoring adherence to government accounting principles, relevant regulations.
- Promote and uphold corporate financial policies, ensuring that all activities are conducted in line with organizational standards.
- Contribute to the development, implementation, and ongoing maintenance of robust internal control systems, with a focus on enhancing the accuracy and reliability of financial reporting and compliance.
- Collaborate with the Director of Finance in the preparation and ongoing monitoring of budgets, providing insights and analysis as required.
- Assist with the preparation and continual monitoring of financial forecasts.
- Support annual tax, audit, insurance, and regulatory reporting requirements.
- Conduct analysis of various accounts to verify accuracy and prepare and post journal entries as needed to ensure compliance with GAAP.
- Oversee the accounting for fixed assets, including coordinating the issuance and approval of Requests for Asset (RFA), and ensuring the accurate recording of fixed assets and associated depreciation expenses within the ERP-LN system.
- Prepare and review monthly financial statements and supporting schedules.
- Serve as a key liaison during internal and external audits.
- Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, reporting efficiency, and internal controls.
- Lead, coach, and develop three (3) accounting professionals while fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
NUMBER AND TITLES OF DIRECT REPORTS:
Three (3): Accounts Payable Clerk, Senior Accountant, and Staff Accountant.
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent
NUMBER OF YEARS AND TYPE OF EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
- Eight or more (8+) years of progressive accounting experience, preferably within manufacturing, industrial, aerospace, defense, or government contracting environments.
- Three (3) or more years of supervisory experience, or team leadership, in financial management.
- Demonstrated expertise in interpretation and application of relevant GAAP principles and reporting standards.
- Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting.
- Experience managing month-end close and financial statement preparation.
- Experience with ERP systems and advanced Excel skills.
OTHER POSITION CONSIDERATIONS:
- Ability to adhere to established confidentiality policies, safety standards, and all relevant regulations, contributing to a secure and compliant workplace.
- Familiarity with a range of financial and business software applications is important, including financial management systems, internet and email platforms, presentation tools, spreadsheet software, and word processing programs.
- A solid understanding of generally accepted accounting principles.
- Experience with government contracting regulations (FAR/CAS), preferred but not required.
- Experience with Infor Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) LN or similar ERP platforms (SAP, Oracle, Epicor, Microsoft Dynamics, Costpoint, etc.) preferred.
- Strong listening skills are important to ensure clear understanding of instructions and directions, along with the ability to communicate progress and any issues effectively to colleagues and management.
- Ability to contribute positively within a team-oriented, high-demand, and fast-paced environment.
- Flexibility in working hours is expected in order to provide appropriate coverage for time-sensitive projects, with the understanding that achieving organizational objectives is the highest priority.
- Occasional travel (less than 10%) domestically and internationally may be required.
