The compensation offered to the candidate selected for the position will depend on several factors, including the candidate's educational background, skills and professional experience.

Setting the Stage:

The Application Lead provides day-to-day functional leadership for application planning, design, build, implementation, integration, optimization, and ongoing support. This position translates operational requirements into system direction, coordinates with vendors and cross-functional stakeholders, supports issue resolution and change adoption, monitors project deliverables, and provides leadership input to support effective team performance and execution.

As a Willow Application Lead A Typical Day might include:

  • Provides day-to-day leadership for application build, implementation, support, and project execution activities across the functional team.
  • Defines and guides application architecture, integration, workflow design, system requirements, configuration decisions, and future-state workflow development across application and operational areas.
  • Serves as the business and application subject matter expert by aligning end-user needs, operational requirements, vendor implementation teams, and technical support resources.
  • Leads complex issue resolution involving application build, integration, master files, category lists, system preferences, technical decisions, and cross-application dependencies.
  • Manages project deliverables, timelines, risks, escalations, mitigation plans, status reporting, and integrated project delivery in partnership with leadership and stakeholders.
  • Facilitates regular communication with vendors, end users, project teams, Principal Trainers, subject matter experts, and operational leaders.
  • Ensures documentation of current- and future-state workflows, specifications, business cases, decisions, risks, issues, testing plans, governance materials, and version-controlled project artifacts.
  • Oversees build activity, testing coordination, release rules, software updates, new functionality review, and application enhancement prioritization.
  • Coordinates change readiness, resistance management, training alignment, stakeholder engagement, and communication of workflow changes to impacted teams.
  • Establishes standards for application build practices, naming conventions, security classifications, release processes, documentation expectations, and cross-team collaboration.
  • Supports team leadership by aligning resources, facilitating weekly project communications, resolving conflicts, escalating risks, and partnering with management on team performance feedback.
  • Performs other duties as assigned or directed by management.

  • Experience setting standards for application build practices, naming conventions, security classifications, release processes, documentation expectations, and cross-team collaboration.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

  • Functional leadership: Ability to provide day-to-day direction for application planning, design, build, implementation, optimization, support, and project execution across the functional team.
  • Application strategy and architecture: Ability to define and guide application architecture, integration, workflow design, system requirements, configuration decisions, and future-state workflow development.
  • Business and application expertise: Ability to align end-user needs, operational requirements, vendor implementation teams, and technical support resources while serving as a subject matter expert.
  • Complex issue resolution: Ability to lead resolution of application build, integration, master file, category list, system preference, technical decision, and cross-application dependency issues.
  • Project delivery: Ability to manage deliverables, timelines, risks, escalations, mitigation plans, status reporting, and integrated project delivery in partnership with leadership and stakeholders.
  • Communication and stakeholder engagement: Ability to facilitate regular communication with vendors, end users, project teams, Principal Trainers, subject matter experts, and operational leaders.
  • Documentation and governance: Ability to maintain documentation of current- and future-state workflows, specifications, business cases, decisions, risks, issues, testing plans, governance materials, and version-controlled project artifacts.
  • Change readiness and adoption: Ability to coordinate resistance management, training alignment, stakeholder engagement, and communication of workflow changes to impacted teams.
  • Standards and quality: Ability to establish expectations for application build practices, naming conventions, security classifications, release processes, documentation quality, and cross-team collaboration.
  • Team leadership support: Demonstrates the ability to align resources, facilitate weekly project communications, resolve conflicts, escalate risks, and partner with management on team performance feedback.

To Be Considered for this opportunity:

You must have an Associate’s degree with two or more years of relevant work experience. Additional Education Preferred: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent relevant work experience. Licensure Required: Applicable application certification is required for the assigned application, as applicable. Certification must be maintained through required New Version Training (NVT), as applicable. For certain clinical applications, clinical licensure is preferred and may be required as specified in the applicable job aid. Additional Licensure Preferred: No additional licensure preferred unless specified for the assigned application or clinical workflow. Experience Required: Minimum of six years of application, system build, support, healthcare, or related experience. Demonstrated experience working with assigned customer groups, operational workflows, multidisciplinary teams, and application support processes. Minimum of three years of relevant experience leading teams, workgroups, project delivery, stakeholder alignment, or conflict resolution preferred. Strong organizational, communication, stakeholder engagement, and leadership skills.
