Responsibilities

JOB SUMMARY

The Nursing Support Services Manager maintains operational responsibility for one or more support nursing units. Responsible for planning, implementation and evaluation of nursing care to patients in all settings where nursing care is provided in collaboration with other health care providers. The CNM is accountable for the provision of safe patient care, compliance with department strategic objectives, participation in performance and practice improvement activities. The delivery of evidence based nursing care at Kettering Health Network reflects the philosophies, missions, vision and values of the organization and nursing department

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Minimum education

Bachelor of Science in Nursing or a Bachelor’s degree in another field if willing to begin a program leading to a Bachelor of Science or Master’s degree in Nursing within 12 months of hire and completed within 3 years • Masters in Nursing preferred, a Masters may be mandatory if required by a regulatory agency

Minimum Work Experience

• Minimum of two years of progressive clinical experience with demonstrated leadership skills

Required Licenses [Ohio, United States] Registered Nurse • Licensed in the state of Ohio as a Registered Nurse BLS • National certification by the end of 2nd year in position

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Key Job Responsibilities

• Demonstrates adherence to the patient confidentiality and patient rights

• Demonstrates adherence to staff and organizational confidentiality; follows privacy guidelines

• Makes adequate advance arrangements for time off and coordinates coverage for area.

• Manages time effectively in completing assigned responsibilities

• Accepts responsibility for the impact of actions on patients, visitors and other healthcare team members

• Presents a professional appearance; displays name badge appropriately

• Reports environmental, personnel and patient/family safety issues to the appropriate personnel in a timely manner and follows through accordingly

• Demonstrates accountability, reports mistakes and “near misses” timely and accurately

• Attends (or reviews via HealthStream) a minimum of three Town Hall meetings • Communicates concerns/issues to appropriate leader timely and effectively

• Ensures appropriate procedures and guidelines are followed; attention to detail/safety

• Works to empower staff to find resolutions to problems/issues

• Demonstrates skill using de-escalation techniques

• Utilizes the service recovery process; assures that the concerns of patient and family members are addressed

• Demonstrates an understanding of continuous improvement through processes that support QA/PI strategic focus and goals

• Participate in strategic planning and quality initiates

• Targets important areas for innovation and develops solutions that address meaningful work issues

• Leads organizational initiatives utilizing lean processes

• Recognizes /anticipates other's needs; willingly offers assistance

• Assures an environment conducive to healing

• Willing to learn and advance skills; seeks new knowledge to adjust to changing needs of the work environment

• Determines current and future supply and demand for nursing care

• Serves as a change agent, assisting others in understanding the importance, necessity, impact and process of change

• Supports staff during times of difficult transitions

• Adapts leadership style to situational needs

• Demonstrates respect and sensitivity to the age specific and culturally diverse needs of the patient and family and treats patients with dignity and kindness under difficult situations.

• Maintains positive interpersonal relationshi8ps with patients, visitors, physicians and other hospital personnel

• Supports and demonstrates the “ Excellence for Life” principles which may include but not limited to ICARE, rounding, team huddles and call backs.

• Incorporates the principles of Relationship Based Care into daily practice

• Establishes and environment that promotes participatory and shared decision making between staff, leadership and members of the interdisciplinary team

• Develops strategies to support the professional development of staff



Qualifications

Manager for 1East and 2East; Pre/Post unit for Cardiac Procedural Patients. Manager to oversee a 27 bed unit with 2 procedural rooms. Looking for a dynamic leader who is colloborative, organized, accountable, and a good communicator. Prefer someone with experience with cardiac care background and procedural work.
