Construction Project Manager

Location: Long Island City, NY

Salary Range: $125,000 - $155,000 annually

Work Arrangement: In-Person

Employment Type: Full-Time

Our SelectLeaders Client is an established construction firm specializing in high-end construction projects throughout New York City. The company is known for its commitment to quality, craftsmanship, client service, and delivering complex projects with a high level of precision.

They are seeking an experienced Construction Project Manager to join their team and take ownership of projects from pre-construction through completion. This is a highly visible, hands-on role for a Project Manager who is comfortable managing the financial, contractual, scheduling, and administrative aspects of high-end construction projects while maintaining strong relationships with clients, architects, consultants, and subcontractors.

The Construction Project Manager will serve as the central point of coordination for assigned projects, ensuring work is delivered on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with project specifications and client expectations. Working closely with the Site Superintendent and project team, the PM will oversee project financials, contracts, procurement, scheduling, change management, documentation, and client communication.

The ideal candidate is organized, proactive, composed under pressure, and capable of managing multiple priorities in the fast-paced NYC construction environment.

Responsibilities

Project & Financial Management

  • Establish, monitor, and manage project budgets throughout the construction lifecycle.

  • Track project costs, commitments, expenditures, and financial forecasts.

  • Review subcontractor invoices and project costs for accuracy and compliance.

  • Manage subcontractor buyout and contract negotiations.

  • Prepare and maintain project financial reports and cost projections.

  • Identify potential cost issues and develop solutions before they impact the project.

  • Prepare, negotiate, and manage change orders with owners, architects, subcontractors, and vendors.

Scheduling & Project Planning

  • Develop and maintain project schedules and key milestones.

  • Coordinate procurement and long-lead materials to support project schedules.

  • Monitor project progress and proactively address schedule concerns.

  • Coordinate with the Superintendent to align overall project objectives with field execution.

  • Identify potential project roadblocks and develop solutions to keep work moving forward.

Client & Stakeholder Management

  • Serve as a primary point of contact for clients, owners, architects, designers, consultants, and subcontractors.

  • Provide regular project updates, including schedule, budget, progress, and potential issues.

  • Lead and participate in project meetings.

  • Build and maintain strong professional relationships with project stakeholders.

  • Resolve issues diplomatically while protecting project objectives and company interests.

Contract & Construction Administration

  • Oversee RFIs, submittals, approvals, and other project documentation.

  • Review plans, specifications, and contract documents.

  • Monitor subcontractor performance and contractual compliance.

  • Coordinate with architects, engineers, and consultants to resolve design and construction issues.

  • Ensure project documentation is accurate, current, and organized.

  • Support permitting, inspections, and regulatory requirements as needed.

Project Closeout

  • Manage project closeout activities through final completion.

  • Coordinate punch-list completion and final inspections.

  • Ensure required warranties, O&M manuals, closeout documents, and other project deliverables are completed.

  • Support final accounting and contract closeout.

Qualifications
  • 6+ years of construction project management experience.

  • NYC construction experience required.

  • Experience managing high-end interior construction projects required.

  • Experience within a general contracting environment strongly preferred.

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Business, or a related field preferred.

  • Strong understanding of construction contracts, budgets, scheduling, procurement, and change orders.

  • Demonstrated experience managing subcontractors and working with architects, designers, consultants, and clients.

  • Strong financial and analytical skills, including project forecasting and cost control.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and remain composed in a fast-paced environment.

  • Proficiency with construction management and project scheduling software; Procore and/or MS Project experience preferred.

  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills.

Work Environment

This is an in-person position based in Long Island City, Queens, with regular interaction with project teams and construction sites throughout New York City. Regular visits to active construction sites may be required, including navigating active job-site conditions and complying with applicable safety requirements.

  • Salary Range: $125,000 - $155,000 annually. The anticipated salary range represents the good-faith salary range the employer reasonably expects to pay for this position.
