Job Description
We are seeking a highly technical, hands-on engineering leader to establish internal ownership of our systems, improve execution velocity, and reduce dependency on outsourced development resources.
This is a critical leadership hire for our healthcare technology platforms, CallonDoc and DoctusMind.
This is not a traditional CTO, architect, or people-management role.
We are looking for a builder, operator, and execution-focused technical leader who can deeply understand our systems, drive engineering accountability, and directly contribute to high-impact technical work.
You will serve as the day-to-day engineering authority across product execution, technical operations, outsourced engineering management, and platform scalability.

Our platforms currently leverage a combination of outsourced engineering resources and fractional technical leadership. As the business continues to scale, we are looking to bring strong internal technical ownership in-house to support product growth, operational efficiency, security, and execution speed.
What You’ll DoOwn the Codebase & Technical Systems- Develop deep understanding of the existing architecture, services, and infrastructure
- Establish internal ownership of core systems and engineering decisions
- Improve code quality, maintainability, and overall system reliability
- Identify technical debt and prioritize practical improvements
- Translate business and product requirements into clear technical execution
- Manage outsourced and offshore engineering resources
- Challenge timelines, estimates, and architectural decisions when necessary
- Enforce engineering standards, QA processes, and delivery accountability
- Improve communication, execution speed, and delivery predictability
- Contribute directly to the codebase when needed
- Solve bottlenecks and unblock critical initiatives
- Build, improve, or refactor APIs, workflows, integrations, and internal systems
- Support scalable architecture decisions while maintaining execution velocity
- Collaborate closely with Product, Growth, and Operations teams
- Support rapid experimentation, feature iteration, and funnel optimization
- Help improve workflows, automation, and operational efficiency
- Understand how engineering decisions impact customer experience, conversion, and retention
- Enforce best practices around:
- HIPAA compliance
- PHI handling
- API-first architecture
- Access controls
- Audit logging
- Security risk mitigation
- Identify and address architectural and operational risks proactively
- Reduce long-term reliance on external vendors
- Improve development workflows, tooling, and release processes
- Introduce better engineering operational discipline
- Help establish a scalable internal engineering foundation
- 7–12+ years of software engineering experience
- Comfortable writing, reviewing, and debugging production-level code
- Strong backend systems and API experience preferred
- Ability to operate independently in complex systems
- Experience working in fast-moving, ambiguous environments
- Comfortable operating with limited structure and evolving priorities
- Ability to make decisions quickly and pragmatically
- Experience managing outsourced or offshore engineering teams
- Ability to enforce accountability, quality standards, and delivery expectations
- Comfortable owning execution across distributed teams
- Understands how technical decisions affect:

- Regulated or high-trust environments (healthcare, fintech, etc.)
- AI/ML systems, LLM products, or AI-powered workflows
- Security-focused engineering and compliance practices
Candidates should demonstrate strong security awareness and sound engineering judgment, even if they have not worked directly in healthcare.
