Temporary Practice Assistant
Buchanan Ingersoll & Rooney is a national law firm with a proven reputation for providing progressive, industry-leading legal, business, regulatory and government relations advice to our regional, national and international clients.
We are currently searching for a temporary Practice Assistant for our Harrisburg, PA location to support members of the Labor & Employment team.
Assignment will last approximately 4 - 6 months.
Wage: $30.76 – 35.85/hour
On-site 5 days per week
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Type, proofread, format and edit correspondence, memoranda, agreements and other legal documents under time-sensitive deadlines; may assist with drafting of documents.
- Run conflict checks, prepare engagement letters, and open new client matters.
- Calendar dates for responses, check requests, payments, hearings, and other case-specific deadlines.
- Prepare documents for filing and electronically file with State and Magisterial courts.
- Review settlement agreements, complaints, and verifications of debt.
- Draft, review, and send/mail FDCPA letters and accompanying documents.
- Communicate with adverse parties via telephone and written correspondence to request payments, provide updates or deadline reminders, etc. and maintain a record of communications and outreach.
- Maintain paper and electronic files (NetDocs).
- Other duties as assigned.
Required Education/Experience:
- Three (3+) or more years of experience as a legal assistant in a law environment, or comparable experience.
- High school diploma required. College degree a plus.
- Proficiency with MS Word, Outlook, Excel, Teams and Zoom.
- Prior use of a document management system, NetDocs preferred.
- Ability to organize/prioritize workload and work in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent written/verbal communication skills and the ability to professionally interact with professionals, clients and staff.
- Ability to problem-solve and anticipate issues/problems.
- Strong attention to detail, initiative, and follow-through.
- Ability to work overtime, as needed.
