Overview

The Einstein-Montefiore Institute for Clinical and Translation Research’s (ICTR) mission is to enhance the discipline of clinical and translational research by promoting multidisciplinary collaboration, addressing translational “blocks” in research, providing infrastructure and collaborative support, and enhancing training, education, and career development to the Albert Einstein College of Medicine and Montefiore Medical Center communities. The Community Collaborative Core (CCC) of the ICTR is an integral driver for essential bidirectional collaborations among academic, health system and community partners, and serves as a trustworthy provider of expertise, resources and education to foster such collaborations.

The ICTR Community Collaborative Core (CCC) Coordinator works as a member within the Einstein-Montefiore ICTR to facilitate the overall aims and deliverables of the module and assist in the integration of a health equity focus into all aspects of community-engaged translational research. Under the direction of the ICTR and CCC module leadership, s/he will assist in organizational and project planning, promote and evaluate program impact on and linkage to other components of the CTSA/ICTR, assisting the module leadership towards facilitation of goals.

The CCC coordinator has primary responsibility of enhancing community engagement throughout the ICTR and Einstein-Montefiore with a functional understanding of root causes of health disparities and structural racism as it applies to access to medical care and research. S/he works in accordance with the policies of the Albert Einstein College of Medicine, the National Institutes of Health, and in collaboration with the ICTR Administration, the Montefiore Medical Center Administration, and the College of Medicine on regulatory compliance and achievement of the institutional goals and objectives.



Responsibilities

Specific areas of responsibility include operations management, resource management, outreach/marketing, as well as special projects as assigned. S/he maintains communication with core leadership, and ICTR leadership, research and partner communities, assists in progress reports, and dissemination of CCC products on a local and national level.

  • Provide key support to multiple collaborative leaders in planning and coordination of core activities, and the establishment of policies and procedures within the core and across the institution and ICTR. S/he will problem solve issues related to planning and implementation and manage ongoing reporting. The role has potential growth to include supervision of staff assigned to specific projects.
  • Coordinate quarterly CCC meetings, Community Advisory Council, Real Hub, and yet to-be-defined leadership meetings, and represent the CCC at meetings of project partners including the Einstein ICTR, Montefiore Medical Group, and support communication with Community Advisory Boards or other community stakeholder meetings.
  • Manage data collection for all CCC services, prepare data for analysis, and perform regular audits to ensure that the data collected is complete and accurate. Assist in the development of additional tracking and data collection efforts.
  • Manage qualitative data collection and evaluation in support of CCC aims and researcher-support via community engagement studios, focus groups, and/or qualitative interviews.
  • Draft appropriate progress reports for project specific funding agencies (e.g. NIH).
  • Assist the CCC leaders with preparation of grant proposals and collaboration (new and competing renewals as well as related and complementary initiatives).
  • Facilitate and prepare conference abstracts, oral presentations, and poster presentations, and participate in the development and writing of manuscripts for publication for projects conducted.
  • Represent the CCC at internal and external academic meetings and community events. Act as a liaison to ICTR leadership.
  • Work with Departmental Administrator to develop and monitor project budgets and subcontracts. Assure timely submission of subcontract invoices and track payments.
  • Oversee the maintenance of the CCC website and produce and distribute newsletters regarding CCC or project-specific activities.
  • May involve travel to other Einstein-Montefiore campuses and MMG clinics, community organizations and other stakeholder groups.

*This is a hybrid role, with eligibility for a hybrid schedule starting 90 days after the hire date. After this period, the employee may be allowed to work remotely up to 2 days per week, subject to approval and the department's needs.



Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree required, Master’s Degree preferred; 3 years of clinical research or health-related field experience is also required; preference in multiple clinical study management a plus. Experience working with interdisciplinary teams that include clinical partners and community based organization. Experience in quantitative and qualitative data collection and analysis a plus.
  • Optimal technical background: Proficiency in software and database creation and management as it relates to the enterprise. This includes but is not limited to: Software systems such as; Microsoft Office Suite, Windows 10+ or Mac iOS; intimate understanding of structured databases supporting tracking and management of data collection (i.e. REDCap, Qualtrics, Google forms)

Skills and Competencies:

  • Candidates who have research experience as well as community engagement and community health training and experience preferred

  • Experience with qualitative studios preferred

  • Bilingual (Spanish and English) preferred
  • Communication skills are vital, including both effective written and public speaking abilities.
  • The role requires the use of sound professional judgment to trouble-shoot issues and problems without direct day-to-day supervision from supervisors.
  • Great interpersonal skills and the ability to work well in a team setting is essential.
  • This position requires a high degree of organization to manage projects. This includes both individual workflow and broader project management of workflow.
  • Knowledge of program design and management.
