Job Description

GENERAL SUMMARY:

Processes specimens for analysis and performs specified laboratory procedures under the supervision of the Anatomic Lab Manager and Assistant Manager. Follows the proper procedure in conjunction with the established quality control and instrument maintenance as defined by procedure manuals.

PRINCIPAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • *Commits to the mission, vision, beliefs and consistently demonstrates our core values.
  • *Performs Frozen Sections and collects Fine Needle Aspirations.
  • *Enters patient and specimen information data accurately into the computer system.
  • *Performs routine and more complex laboratory procedures on specimens as directed by supervisor.
  • *Provides assistance to various departments and clients by retrieving specimens, reports etc. as requested and routine proper location.
  • *Prepares specimens for testing.

    • EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

    Education and training equivalent to 60 semester hours from an accredited institution that include:

    • Six (6) semester hours of chemistry
    • Six (6) semester hours of biology
    • Twelve (12) additional semester hours of chemistry, biology, or medical laboratory technology courses in any combination.

    Bachelor degree preferred. Previous work experience in a medical laboratory is preferred.
