Job Description
General Summary:
The Urgent Care Physician Assistant functions as an active member of the interdisciplinary team that provides health care services to patients seeking care in Urgent Care. This position works both independently and collaboratively with the Urgent Care team to provide comprehensive health care services to patients, including assessment, diagnosis, prescription, treatment and follow-up planning as well as Occupational Health services. The position will also rotate through the Emergency Department.
Essential Job Functions*:
- Performs physical exams and assessments of patients in Urgent Care.
- Ability to work as sole provider to provide timely service to patients that present each day.
- Selects orders and performs laboratory and other diagnostic testing to augment physical findings.
- Interprets data and diagnostic results for appropriate course of action.
- Formulates differential diagnosis based on history, physical and clinical findings, and diagnostic testing.
- Documents current injury, physical findings, diagnosis, and plan of care in the medical record for each visit daily. Completes charges daily on all patient visits.
- Writes and calls in prescriptions as allowed by formulary and licensure without physician co-signature.
- Consults with Emergency Department physician when necessary.
- Provides Occupational Health services in the Urgent Care.
- Provide coverage in the Emergency Department as needed.
- Formulates a plan that includes discharge, and needed referral and follow-up care.
- Evaluates patient physiological and behavioral responses to interventions for revision of management plan and documents changes in the medical record.
- Communicates with patient and their family members regarding plan of care.
- Ensures confidentiality of patient information.
- Performs procedures granted through the credentialing process.
- Complies with hospital and departmental policies, procedures, regulations and standards as related to job. Participates in continuing medical education.

- Actively and appropriately participates in problem-solving identification and resolution, both intra- and inter-departmentally.

Qualifications:
- Education
Required: Bachelor of Science degree and graduate of American Medical Association approved Physician Assistant Program
- Work Experience
Required: Experience in Emergency Department, Urgent Care or Occupational Health setting.
- Licensure/Certifications/Registrations
Required: - New Hampshire Board of Medicine licensure to practice as a
Physician Assistant.
- ACLS certification (to be completed within one year of hire)
- DOT certification
- Other Skills/Knowledge
Required:
Experience with electronic health record.
Ability to work independently as sole provider.
Commitment to excellent patient experience.
