About This Position
The mission of the Charter School of Educational Excellence (CSEE) is to produce students who meet or exceed all New York State learning standards. CSEE will do this by creating a challenging learning environment with high expectations for every child with an emphasis on the basic subject areas of English-language arts, mathematics, social studies, and science. The school will employ standards based and research proven curriculum, implement best educational practices, use a variety of assessments to measure on-going student progress in skills and content learning, and support teachers with professional development activities that are aligned to the instructional program.
CSEEs emphasis on basic subjects will give students a strong academic foundation that will allow them to become critical thinkers and life-long learners. The school will also expose students to a diverse curriculum that promotes appreciation of art, music, and cultural awareness. The Charter School of Educational Excellence will provide a safe and nurturing environment for all students and foster a strong partnership with families and the community.
Position Overview
This is a 12-month position that requires a close, continuing relationship with the Chief Executive Officer of the School and provides support in all operational aspects of the office. This position plays a key role in managing the written and oral communications among the Chief Executive Officers Office, the elementary, middle and high school. The Administrative Assistant works closely with staff in other areas of the Central Office, including the offices of the Principals, Student Data, The Business Office, and Parent Coordinator. The incumbent is expected to alert the Chief Executive Officer on matters requiring their attention, and anticipate, undertake and accomplish varied tasks with a minimum supervision, exercising a considerable degree of independent judgment with information kept confidential as appropriate.
Responsibilities & duties (including, but not limited to)
Maintain the Chief Executive Officers calendar including the scheduling of meetings, and conferences
Composes business letters, emails, documents, reports and handles routine correspondence for the Chief Executive Officer
Proofreads and edits written material for accuracy of spelling, grammar, content and format
Maintains, update and edit the Schools webpages relative to the Chief Executive Officers office
Attend team meetings and board meetings and take notes as required
Prepare the monthly Chief Executive Officers newsletter and keep information up to date within the document
Maintains effective electronic and paper filing system that ensures timely retrieval of all relevant information related to
Policies and practices, laws and regulations, contracts and reports
Maintains multiple internal databases that require a proficient to expert level of experience with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PPT), Google Docs and Gmail.
Ensure all written communications form the Chief Executive Officers office are of the highest quality
Assist with the development of budgets
Assist with events such as an open house, and teacher-parent nights, professional development days, school activities and other Superintendent- involved activities.
Perform other duties and assignments as requested
Working knowledge on specific NYSED portals such as Grants Gateway, G5, G6, SAM gov
Working knowledge of Powerschool
Work Experience & Skills
? Bachelors degree and two or more years of school administrative experience preferred
? A passion for the mission of the Charter School of Educational Excellence
? Must have strong organizational and communication skills, verbal and written
? Ability to work with parents, students, faculty, support staff, external government representatives, as well as school community groups
? Extremely competent in computer programs such as Microsoft Office, Google Docs, Zoom and Gmail
? Prioritizes work based on the Superintendents needs
? Knowledge of school systems: PowerSchool and Pick a Patrol
? Ability to handle stressful situation with tact and composure
? Ability to handle large volumes of work and a variety of responsibilities associated with running of a busy office with efficiency an accuracy
? Ability to multitask in a fast-paced, supportive environment that nurtures student growth
? Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds
? Ability to seat at a desk for several hours a day
? Ability to frequent physical exertion in body movements such as reaching, bending and twisting
