Pathologist Assistant at University Health System- San Antonio – San Antonio, Texas

POSITION SUMMARY/RESPONSIBILITIES
Qualified by education and training to provide, under the direction and supervision of a licensed, Board certified pathologist, appropriate Anatomic Pathology services. Oversees and provides administrative guidance and support for technical operations in the Surgical Pathology grossing room and the Autopsy Service. Manages the Surgical Pathology grossing room, performs gross descriptions of submitted Surgical Pathology specimens, and provides management and technical support for the Autopsy Service.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
Undergraduate education and certification as a Pathologist Assistant is required. Must be familiar with Texas Administrative Code of Criminal Procedure regarding performance of specimen grossing and autopsies, and with requirements for valid permission for autopsy by decedent’s family. Preference is given to applicants with experience in a diagnostic laboratory setting, as well as those with managerial and/or supervisory experience. Experience with a clinical information system or similar application is also preferred.
