PHYSICIAN ASSISTANT

Minimum Qualifications:
LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS OR CERTIFICATIONS
Required:
Current students who have not yet completed their physician assistant program or recent graduates who have not yet obtained their NCCPA certification or TPAB/TMB physician assistant license are eligible to apply for this position. However, official employment is contingent upon the successful completion of an accredited physician assistant program, NCCPA certification and TPAB/TMB physician assistant licensure.
NURSE PRACTITIONER

Job Duties:
The Department of Cardiovascular Medicine at the University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB) is seeking a highly motivated Advanced Practice Provider (Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant) to join our General Cardiology subsection. This position focuses exclusively on outpatient care, working closely with cardiology faculty and multidisciplinary care teams to provide comprehensive, patient-centered cardiovascular care.

- Licensed Registered Nurse (RN) by the Texas Board of Nursing (TBON)
- Licensed Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) in a nurse practitioner clinical area of specialization by the Texas Board of Nursing (TBON)

The Department of Cardiovascular Medicine at the University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB) is seeking a highly motivated Advanced Practice Provider (Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant) to join our General Cardiology subsection. This position focuses exclusively on outpatient care, working closely with cardiology faculty and multidisciplinary care teams to provide comprehensive, patient-centered cardiovascular care.
- Conduct outpatient clinic visits, including new patient evaluations, follow-up visits, and chronic disease management.
- Perform thorough cardiovascular assessments, including history, physical examination, and interpretation of ECGs and common non-invasive tests.
- Manage a variety of general cardiology conditions including hypertension, hyperlipidemia, coronary artery disease, arrhythmias, and heart failure in the ambulatory setting.
- Educate patients and families on cardiovascular disease prevention, lifestyle modifications, medication adherence, and follow-up plans.
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other members of the care team to optimize treatment plans and care coordination.
- Document patient encounters accurately and efficiently in the electronic health record (Epic).
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and educational activities as appropriate.
