About This Position
Summary
The Material Handler plays a crucial role in ensuring efficient flow of materials through various stages of the production process. They possess strong organizational skills and are responsible for managing inventory, handling physical materials and collaborating with different departments as needed.
Essential Functions
- The efficient and timely receiving, storage and issuing of raw materials, purchased components, manufactured components and MRO supplies in a controlled warehouse environment.
- Packing, staging and delivery of all necessary components in support of Plant Manufacturing Orders (M/)’s) to various work centers and departments.
- Load and unload materials from delivery trucks, ensuring proper handling and storage.
- Timely processing, reclamation and distribution of all scrap metals/materials used within the plant.
- Inventory maintenance, cycle counting and reconciliation and report discrepancies to supervisors.
- Adhere to safety guidelines, including wearing appropriate personal protective equipment and following safe material handling procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Education
- High School Diploma or equivalent required. Associate degree or higher preferred.
- Minimum of 2-3 years’ experience in receiving and material handling. Experience in manufacturing setting preferred.
- Forklift experience, certification preferred.
- Must have a solid understanding of computers.

- Knowledge of safety regulations and guidelines.
- Must have excellent communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively.
- Ability to work effectively and cooperatively with staff and customers.
- Ability to multi-task, prioritize appropriately, and work well both individually and as part of a team.
- Ability to use time productively and contribute to high levels of company operational efficiency and effectiveness.
- Ability to identify complex problems and review related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions.
- Ability to operate packing or other material processing equipment.
Physical Demands
- Ability to lift heavy object (occasionally up to 75 lbs) and perform physical tasks.
- Ability to stand, walk, and perform physical tasks for extended period of time.
