About This Position
Our fully-owned for-profit subsidiary La Causa Development in Arizona and in Nevada provides professional expertise in full service real estate development from design to implementation. HOW WILL YOU MAKE AN IMPACT IN THIS ROLE? As our Maintenance Technician, you will ensure that our properties are safe, functional, and well-maintained. You will perform essential service duties, oversee upkeep of grounds and buildings, and collaborate with vendors and staff to keep operations running efficiently. Your work directly impacts the experience and safety of the families and communities we serve. In this role, you will: Complete and oversee all property upkeep, repairs, and maintenance. Respond quickly and courteously to service requests and make-readies. Conduct preventative maintenance and maintain accurate scheduling. Research, evaluate, and coordinate product reviews for maintenance materials. Schedule and supervise vendor work and all in-house service needs. Manage inventory, ordering, and delivery of supplies with Community Manager approval. Ensure OSHA safety standards and company safety policies are followed at all times. Maintain personal tools required for the job and ensure they are in good working order. Report unusual or urgent concerns related to the property or residents. Seek ongoing learning opportunities for personal development. Participate in on-call rotations and assist co-workers in resolving work challenges. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND COMPETENCIES- One to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively with customers one-on-one or groups of employees of organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

REASONING ABILITY: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: Heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) certification is strongly suggested for this position. Certified Apartment Maintenance Technician (CAMT) is recommended as well, but not required.

Employee will be expected to participate in continuous learning, competency building and maintenance of competency skills.

Both inside and outside work in all types of weather is frequent.
Medium to heavy work requiring prolonged or repeated standing, walking, climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching and lifting to a maximum of 100 lbs., with frequent lifting and carrying of up to 50 lbs.
Good eye/hand coordination essential.
Color discrimination, the ability to discriminate between colors in terms of hue, and the ability to identify a particular color or color combination from memory are required.
Ability to communicate clearly and effectively both verbally and in writing. Able to present operational information to personnel at all levels.
Work is performed in structured environments.

Hand tools normally used in construction, maintenance or landscaping.
Power tools to include, but not limited to, circular saw, power drill, bench grinder, string trimmer, hedge trimmer, power floor cleaner, carpet shampoo machine, power drain cleaner, chain saw and key machine.
Electric or gas powered “golf cart” style maintenance vehicles.

Neat, cleanly groomed, and dressed including shirt and shoes in accordance with Company Personnel Policy and Procedures. Shorts are permitted during certain times of the year. Must be clean-shaven, or beards trimmed daily.
