Homebridge serves a high risk, high needs, complex-diagnosed population with a combination of domestic, personal, and paramedical homecare functions funded through IHSS. Position Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Senior Accountant to join our Finance team. This role is responsible for managing complex accounting processes, ensuring compliance with GAAP, and supporting strategic financial planning. The Senior Accountant will prepare and analyze financial statements, reconcile accounts, assist with audits and tax filings, and support month- and year-end close activities. This is a hybrid position, the individual must come into our downtown San Francisco office to sort and handle finance mail and paperwork 2x a week.
Essential Job Functions
- Accounts Payable & Expense Management: Oversee the full accounts payable process, including vendor setup, invoice coding and processing, generating checks, credit card reconciliations, and enforcing documentation policies. Monitor invoice inboxes, ensure accurate expense categorization, and resolve billing or payment issues.
- Financial Reporting & Analysis: Assist with review and analysis of financial statements (balance sheet, income statement, cash flow) for accuracy and completeness. Support management and regulatory reporting needs.
- Month-End & Year-End Close: Support closing activities, including journal entries, reconciliations, and variance analysis. Ensure timely and accurate completion of month-end and year-end processes.
- Account Reconciliation: Reconcile general ledger, sub-ledger, client funds, petty cash, and credit card accounts. Investigate and resolve discrepancies to maintain accurate financial records.
- Budgeting & Forecasting: Assist with preparation, analysis, and monitoring of organizational budgets and forecasts. Provide financial insights to support strategic decision-making.
- Compliance, Audits & Tax: Ensure compliance with GAAP, tax laws, and organizational policies. Prepare documentation for external audits, assist with financial statement preparation, and support resolution of audit findings. Prepare and distribute 1099s and other required filings.
- Process Improvement & Systems: Identify and implement process efficiencies, strengthen internal controls, and enhance accounting systems (Sage Intacct). Maintain departmental files, calendars, and key deadlines.
- Team Support & Collaboration: Deliver excellent customer service to internal and external stakeholders. Provide guidance and mentorship to junior team members, assist with training, and serve as backup for payroll as needed. Collaborate cross-functionally with departments such as Training, HR, and Programs to ensure financial accuracy and operational support.
- Banking & Treasury: Must support streamlining of our banking operations, implement remote deposit setup, bank lockbox, initiating wires and other online payments.
- Finance Mail & Paperwork: Regularly come into the office to sort and handle mail addressed to Finance, including depositing checks, processing paper invoices, and rerouting mail to payroll, HR, and other departments as needed.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Accounting Expertise: Proven experience in financial statement preparation, account reconciliations, audit support, and a strong understanding of GAAP and core accounting principles.
- Analytical & Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to interpret complex financial data, perform calculations, identify issues, and develop sound conclusions.
- Technical Proficiency: Advanced Excel skills; strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite; experience with accounting systems (e.g., Sage Intacct, QuickBooks, NetSuite, Blackbaud, or other ERP platforms – Sage Intacct is preferred); ability to quickly learn and adapt to new technologies.
- Organization & Time Management: Highly detail-oriented, accurate, and organized with the ability to manage multiple priorities, meet tight deadlines, and perform effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Communication & Collaboration: Strong verbal and written communication skills; capable of presenting financial data clearly, writing reports, and collaborating effectively across departments.

Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (Master’s or CPA strongly preferred).
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience with strong knowledge of GAAP.
Work Environment
This position is primarily sedentary, working at a desk in a temperature-controlled office, in modular office space or an individual office. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
