Job Summary

As part of a health care team the Histology Technicians assists in determining the presence of disease and supports the consultation on the best course of treatment to adopt; The Histology Technician is responsible for cutting, staining and preparing sample tissues under microscopes for review; The Histology Technician also assists in the examination of tissues in order to determine disease or abnormality; Work is performed within strict deadlines using fragile equipment such as glass slides or small knives; Adheres to policies, procedures and regulations to ensure compliance and patient safety; Participation in Compliance and other important training is a condition of employment.

Education

High Diploma or GED, preferred

Experience

1 year as Tech in clinical setting, preferred

1 year as a Histology Tech, preferred

Certification & Licensure

ASCP Certification as a Medical Technologist, preferred
