TRAINING AND DEVELOPMENT NURSE EDUCATOR FELLOWSHIP

Description: The Training and Development Nurse Educator Fellowship position is an opportunity for a staff nurse to actively participate in educational development through a mentored experience.
Goal of Program:
To provide staff nurses with an opportunity to explore various elements of nursing education.
Objectives of the Program:
1. Development of skills in identifying learning needs, including those of newly hired staff;
2. Development of skills in creating educational programs;
3. Development of skills in the implementation of learning experiences;
4. Development of skills in evaluating and revising educational programs.
Upon completion of this fellowship, the staff nurse (fellow) will be able to:
- Identify styles of adult learning
- Assess learning needs
- Develop an educational plan based on the needs assessment
- Implement the educational plan
- Evaluate and revise the plan
- Participate in Skills Day Activities
- Participate in New Grad Day Education
- Participate in Continuing Education
Eligibility Requirements:
- RN, full-time, part-time, or per diem, with satisfactory job performance, no outstanding disciplinary issues or attendance problems.
- BSN preferred
- Employed at Craig for over 12 months and an RN for at least 2 years
- Willing to commit to the goals of the program for a period lasting until September 30, 2026
- Willing to devote time to achieving the goals of the program
Selection Criteria: Recipient will be selected based on the following:
- Personal written statement of interest
- Professional presentation of application
- Evidence of interest in nursing education
- Willingness to commit to time requirements necessary to develop skills
APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS FOR THE TRAINING AND DEVELOPMENT NURSE EDUCATOR FELLOW POSITION
1. LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION /REGISTRATIONS: Current Colorado RN license and current in BLS for the Health Care Provider certification required.
2. EDUCATION: Graduate of a CCNE or NLAC accredited school of nursing required; BSN preferred.
3. EXPERIENCE: Employed at Craig for over 12 months and an RN for at least 2 years.
The candidate is a full-time, part-time, or per diem employee with satisfactory job performance, no outstanding disciplinary issues or attendance problems.
4. SKILLS and ABILITIES: Knowledge of nursing principles, practices and procedures in rehabilitation, neuroscience and acute/med/surg in the rehabilitation setting strongly preferred. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Highly motivated to develop oneself as a nurse educator. The ability to be flexible with schedule to meet educational needs on both days and evenings, with the option for night education if the Nurse Educator Fellow is interested.
5. ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
A. Submit a personal written statement identifying the reason for interest in this position, your personal characteristics that qualify you for this position, and your personal goals for this position. This document should be submitted electronically to the Director of Training and Development, Gwen Lindemann (glindemann@craighospital.org) no later than 1700 on October 29, 2025.

- Reflect on your interest in the Training and Development Nurse Educator Fellowship and your ability to fulfill the requirements of the obligation for approximately 12 hours each pay period (312 total hours through fiscal year). It is the Fellow’s responsibility to negotiate scheduling with the nurse staffing office to ensure these hours do not create overtime.

Salary Range: $35.17/ Hour - $50.64/ Hour
