Job Description
Description:
The Freight Coordinator plays a central role in managing outbound and inbound freight while supporting multiple departments across the company. This position requires strong organization, accuracy, and professional communication. The ideal candidate is adaptable, proactive, and comfortable balancing logistics responsibilities with administrative, customer-facing, and cross-departmental support.
Key Responsibilities
Logistics & Freight Coordination
- Schedule and book LTL and truckload shipments
- Communicate daily with freight brokers and carriers
- Track transit times, delays, and delivery confirmations
- Prepare and maintain accurate shipping documentation
- Generate freight quotes for customers, sales, and internal teams
- Track freight costs and assist with rate comparisons
- Coordinate inbound freight deliveries and receiving schedules
- Work closely with warehouse and production teams on order readiness and shipment timing
- Support additional logistics tasks as needed to ensure smooth freight operations
Front Office, Administrative & Cross-Department Support
- Perform data entry for orders, shipment details, customer information, and internal records
- Cover receptionist duties during lunches or as needed (phones, front desk, visitor check-ins)
- Assist customer service with shipment updates, order questions, and general inquiries
- Support sales with freight information, quotes, and order coordination
- Assist purchasing with inbound freight communication and tracking
- Calculate customer balances and process payments when required
- Maintain organized digital and physical files
General Expectations
- Communicate professionally with customers, carriers, and internal teams
- Maintain accuracy and attention to detail in all tasks
- Contribute to a positive, collaborative front office environment
- Perform additional duties as assigned to support company operations
- Highschool Diploma or equivalent required
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Clear, professional verbal and written communication
- Thrives in teamwork focused environments
- Ability to multitask and stay organized in a fast-paced environment
- Basic computer proficiency (email, spreadsheets, order systems)
- Experience in logistics, shipping, transportation, or office coordination preferred
- Positive attitude, strong teamwork mindset, and willingness to learn
- Skilled in time management, planning ahead, and scheduling
