Plant Payroll Administrator

Role:
The Plant Payroll/ Administrator provides administrative support to the business with responsibilities including plant payroll using Dayforce, invoicing, and assisting accounts payable.
Responsibilities
Payroll Functions
  • Support bi-weekly payroll processing using Dayforce by ensuring accuracy and compliance with company policies, conducting daily audits to resolve missed punches, early exits, and shift discrepancies, and proactively monitoring deadlines while liaising with supervisors as needed
  • Reconcile weekly vacation schedules and WCB hours, ensuring proper coding in payroll systems
  • Manage employee payroll inquiries, including wage issues, vacation pay, and retroactive payments, providing timely resolution
  • Prepare and process retroactive pay adjustments, including generating reports and obtaining required approvals
  • Review and submit shift premiums for management approval
  • Coordinate employee benefits enrollment for new hires and provide benefit package information
  • Maintain accurate payroll records and ensure compliance with internal controls and regulatory requirements
  • Respond to payroll-related email inquiries in a professional and timely manner
Plant Administration Functions
  • Manage end-to-end accounts payable processing for purchase orders in CMS, including preparing approval packages and performing three-way matching (PO, invoice, and receipt) to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Resolve invoice discrepancies by liaising with the maintenance team, head office, and suppliers, while maintaining clear communication to prevent payment delays.
  • Support timely vendor payments through regular reconciliation of supplier statements and proactive follow-up on outstanding invoices.
  • Review and process employee expense forms, ensuring all submissions are complete, accurate, and properly documented before forwarding to head office for final processing.
  • Prepare and submit weekly invoice packages to Head Office Accounts Payable
  • Maintain plant accrual records to support accurate month-end reporting and liability tracking
  • Assist with customer invoicing, including preparation of billing and transfer documentation, while providing administrative coverage during staff breaks, lunches, absences, and vacations as required.
  • Coordinate with purchasing team for office supply and maintain inventory levels.
  • Support cross-functional administrative tasks to ensure complete and accurate financial documentation
  • Perform general office duties and provide operational support based on daily business needs
Requirements
  • 1-2 years’ previous experience in admin/payroll role
  • Food Manufacturing Environment experience an asset
  • Excellent interpersonal and relationship-building skills

  • Adaptability
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Must be able to multi-task and possess strong organization skills

Please note that the expected new hire salary range provided is derived from a group of like roles within Sunrise Farms. The final offer amount for this role will be dependent on geographical region, applicable experience, and skillset of the candidate.
