About This Position
PURPOSE OF POSITION
The purpose of the Aultman Imaging Early Commitment Program is to allow select students to begin the transition from student to Registered Radiologic Technologist. The student provides support to the patient care team, by performing direct patient care, under the direction of a Registered Technologist.
Upon completion of required radiography clinical hours, colleagues will function within the responsibilities and expectations listed under the “Post-Preceptorship”.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Senior Level student entering final semester, enrolled in the accredited Aultman Radiography program
- Student must be in good standing and enrolled in radiography course requiring concurrent preceptorship in a clinical setting with a letter of recommendation
- AHA Healthcare Provider Training is required (BLS)
- Adheres to the hospital attendance policy and will make every effort to consistently be punctual when reporting to work and during daily activities.
- Basic computer skills are required
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Hours vary. Student radiographer follows a preceptor’s schedule. M-F or hours as required by the preceptor. Occasional weekends and off -shifts
- Subject to frequent interruptions and changes in priority of duties throughout the day.
- Sitting/standing/moving about during working hours
RESPONSIBILITIES & EXPECTATIONS
RADIOGRAPHY PRECEPTORSHIP
- Required attendance of General HR and Aultman Orientation
- Complies with the approved policies, procedures, rules and regulations for the general operation of Aultman Hospital and the Imaging Division
- Performs duties under the supervision of the RT preceptor which are within the scope of the student’s verified clinical skills as provided by the instructor
- Collaborates with the RT preceptor for protocols and patient positioning
- Completes patient history and any relevant information needed
- Works RT preceptor’s scheduled days and shifts (includes evening, nights, weekends)
POST-PRECEPTORSHIP
- Provides support within the assigned department as an aid.
- Performs activities under the supervision of the including but not limited to:

- Patient transport
- Patient history in RIS
- Patient positioning
- Stocking rooms
- Cleaning rooms
- Cleaning equipment
- Assisting technologist
- Maintaining safety
- Cleaning rooms including exam tables and distributes clean linen and collect dirty linen.
- Transports assigned patients throughout all areas of the department and/or ED as directed.
- Cleans equipment/utility room and stocks rooms
- Performs all positioning and patient care during time within Imaging
- Ability to maintain composure in high-pressure situations.
- Conveys an attitude of understanding, trust, and compassion for individuals.
- Commits to providing exceptional customer service to our patients and visitors. Commits to treating coworkers with respect and dignity and will follow our Non-negotiable Standards to promote a consistent positive experience for patients, employees and visitors.
- Documents care provided in RIS
- Complete house-wide mandatory education and maintains Basic Life Support Certification and any licensure if applicable.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS ADDENDUM
PURPOSE:
O = Occasi 0- 33% of the work shift or 0- 32 repetitions.
F = Frequently = 34-66% of the work shift or 32-200+ repetitions.
C = C 67-100% of the work shift or 200+ repetitions.
N = Not essential job requirement.
