REPORTS TO: Range Control Section Manager
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: This supervisor reports to Site A-15 on Santa Rosa Island (SRI). This supervisor develops work schedules for site personnel to support missions, conduct routine inspections of ranges and training apparatuses, and perform required maintenance based on training, testing and mission schedules in CSE. Schedules may include coordinating two or more shifts depending on mission/test/maintenance requirements as well as weekend/holiday support when required. Will be required to work from detailed procedures and processes, often self-developed, that ensure adequate safeguards and proper criteria are met at all times to meet training, testing and maintenance requirements. Exercises independent judgment directly reporting to the site Section Manager/Department Director. Must be able to develop and provide training for personnel associated with Test/Training Range inspections, test and training support methods, and maintenance requirements. Will be required to review time sheets for accuracy and ensure employee training is up-to-date. Will be required to generate purchase requests for test/mission, maintenance. Must be able to work closely with other RT&T sections to meet mission, testing, and maintenance
GENERAL DUTIES:
- Job functions include oversight of day-to-day activities/personnel involved with conducting required inspections, test support, and maintenance of infrastructure and grounds on the Test/Training Ranges associated with the Training Range Inspection and Maintenance (TRIMaC) sites at Eglin AFB to include those on Santa Rosa Island (SRI).
- Must exercise independent judgment to ensure adequate safety at all times.
- Will be required to develop procedures, processes and checklists associated with range inspection functions.
- Must have experience identifying different classifications of unexploded ordnance (UXO), munitions and the proper disposal processes.
- This supervisor will be required to work directly with the customer to ensure adequate safeguards and proper criteria are met at all times and to interface with the training unit’s OIC/NCOIC and testing POCs to discuss training/testing schedules/activities.
- Will be required to generate required reports and deliver to designated individuals.
- Enforces USAF, E-OMS, and range control procedures and safety protocols. Incumbents must exercise discretion and independent judgment in resolving problems.
- Experience traversing the Eglin ranges, day and night, without a map is a plus.
- Knowledge and experience in proper range access procedures is required.
- Must have experience developing and implementing procedures/processes/checklists.
- Must have experience with Microsoft Word, Power Point, and Excel to develop reports and spreadsheets.
- Knowledge and experience accessing and using CSE to ascertain mission/test support requirements is a plus.
- Must have excellent communication skills and sound leadership skills.
Job Requirements:
OTHER DUTIES: Will be required to advise and work closely with the customer to make changes to processes and ensure that adequate coordination and safety parameters have been established prior to acceptance of non- routine task assignments. Other functions include other job related and contract related tasks are completed by site personnel. May be assigned additional duties associated with site and company related functions/requirements.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: Must be a High School Graduate or equivalent (GED) or graduate of a military or technical school. Must have a minimum of 4 years’ experience with live fire training ranges, safety danger zones, and inspection processes. Knowledge of weapons, munitions, explosive devices, and ordnances utilized on live fire training ranges is a plus. Experience and sound knowledge of range control requirements, specific to SRI test pads and HLZs is desired. Prior experience in a supervisory/leadership role is preferred.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS: This position requires a Secret security clearance. Candidates must be eligible to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance. Supports E-0MS operational objectives. Observes company Quality, Safety, Environmental, Security and Administrative policies; supports Process Improvement. May be required to work overtime, weekends, shifts, and holidays to support mission requirements.
WORK ENVIRONMENT: The work is performed primarily inside and may require some outside work to perform periodic checks of inspections, conduct training and meet with using unit’s OIC/NCOIC at specific training ranges. Outside work may be performed under a variety of environmental conditions, subjected to noise, fumes, and dirt from explosions and other operations to include inclement weather conditions.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Heavy lifting up to 50lbs, climbing, and working at heights above ground level may be required at times. Occasionally required to stoop, bend, kneel, and work in tiring and uncomfortable positions, and move heavy items. Must be able to negotiate stairways without difficulty.
