Behavioral Health Compliance Program Manager

Work Hours: Full Time Days (8:00am-5:00pm) for 40 hrs/week (remote work allowed at manager's discretion)

What You Will Do:
ORGANIZATION AND OVERSIGHT:
System Support: Support overall activities related to compliance and privacy program for behavioral health.
Culture: promote a culture of compliance, awareness of the principles of the Code of Business Ethics key compliance concepts, and publication of the various compliance reporting mechanisms.
Reporting/Investigation: Maintain an open-door for in-person reporting, open compliance and privacy matters for investigation. Oversee completion of investigations including fact gathering, assessment of reported issues, documentation, and remediation tasks.
Workplan development: Utilize risk assessment data and other internal data points to assist with workplan development.
Assist with system privacy initiatives and activities, as applicable.
Additional support: Assist with other compliance and privacy related activities to support program efforts, as applicable.

MONITORING, AUDITING AND ENFORCEMENT:
Audit Activities: Support audit activities related to medical documentation reviews, billing accuracy, and billing guidelines.
Audit Tools: Develop mechanisms, surveys and other tools to audit and validate compliance program policies and procedures are being followed.
Action Plan Follow-up: Monitor and follow-up on corrective action plans.
Investigations: Coordinate or participate in investigations of reported or identified violations of THR policies and standards. Coordinate with Legal counsel, system compliance, and privacy, as necessary.

POLICIES, PROCEDURES, AND STANDARDS:
Regulatory Research: Research laws, regulations, and guidelines and make recommendations for updates and distribute, as necessary.
Policy Development: Support activities from Behavioral Health policy workgroup in developing, revising, or reviewing applicable policies.
Procedures: Develop standard operating procedures for applicable compliance activities.
Application: Oversee the application of THR System Compliance and Privacy Program policies, taking appropriate steps to mitigate damage from breach of privacy policies and practices, when necessary. Identify and assess areas of compliance and privacy-related risk and related internal controls.

COMMUNICATION AND TRAINING:
Communicate the importance of compliance and compliance program to department leaders and staff.
Education: Coordinate with leaders to monitor completion of required assigned training for both compliance and privacy courses as well as behavioral health regulatory training.
Implementation: Assist in the training development and provide local focused education as needed.
Guidance: Maintain specific knowledge and skills related to the THR Code of Business Ethics necessary to answering questions and providing guidance to answer questions and provide guidance.

Education
Bachelor's Degree
Experience
4 Years Behavioral Health to include compliance/privacy experience and/or knowledge and clinical experience in hospital or clinic based services. Req
Bachelor's Degree required, Master's preferred in Healthcare Administration, Business, counseling, social work, or related field. Pref
Strong understanding of state and federal guidance, relevant laws and regulatory standards, best practices for compliance and behavioral health. Pref
Knowledge of HIPAA and substance use disorder privacy laws. Pref
Knowledge of hospital and outpatient clinic billing activities and governmental and commercial payer requirements. Pref
Licenses and Certifications
CHC - Certified in Healthcare Compliance 12 Months Req
Education
