The assistant hero will work under doctors and technicians from various departments (surgery, dermatology, internal medicine, oncology, and emergency) with an emphasis in the emergency/patient care department.
Specific Duties Include Assisting In The Following Areas:
- Triage, admit, and treat patients under doctor/technician supervision
- Assist in performing physical exams
- Assist in placing intravenous catheters
- Work in multiple departments including emergency, internal medicine, dermatology and surgery
- Facilitate transfers of ER cases to the appropriate service
- Assist with surgical procedures and processing instruments
- Monitor and provide treatments to current in-patients
- Calculate drug doses and fill medications
- Communicate effectively and accurately to clients
- The assistant hero may occasionally be responsible for receptionist duties when the receptionist is unavailable, including answering phones, scheduling appointments, admitting patients
- Assist in implementation of isolation protocols
- Assist in taking and processing radiographs and performing advanced imaging
- Collect samples (blood, urine) and run in-house laboratory tests
- Maintain a clean hospital environment
- Maintain a happy, collaborative and positive attitude under stressful situations
Preferred Skills and Experience:
- Previous veterinary assistant experience
- Comfort and knowledge of restraining animals
- Ability to learn new veterinary software
- 2 or 4 year college education

Expected salary: $20-$26 per hour depending on experience.
