About Us

The position is designed to assist biomedical scientists in the Departments of Developmental and Molecular Biology a with their studies on the contribution of malfunctioning of autophagy to the physiology of aging and of common age-related disorders such as neurodegenerative disorders and cancer.



POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

The person will:

  • Perform a moderate number of simple or moderate technical procedures;
    • basic assay on cellular and molecular biology and assist with mouse work
    • perform basic cell biology techniques including among others cell culture
  • Require occasional guidance;
  • Occasionally be responsible for ordering routine supplies;
  • Rarely modify technical procedures;
  • Rarely train other lab members;
  • Rarely guide other lab members;
  • A simple / limited understanding of scientific literature and the research goals and rationale is required;
  • Occasionally analyze data;
  • Rarely interpret data;
  • Rarely make written contributions to papers and grant proposals.*

The technician may assist occasionally with training or guiding of other technical personnel. An understanding of simple scientific literature and the research goals and rationale is required.

We are in search for an individual capable to perform basic cell biology techniques. Proficiency in protein analysis procedures including protein quantification, electrophoresis and immunoblot is preferred. Preferably, the candidate should be capable to perform animal work (colony record maintenance, tail clipping, treatment administration) and have excellent organizing capabilities. Because of the nature of our studies proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Adobe Photoshop and standard software for quantification of images is preferred. Previous record of involvement in a research project, understanding of research goals and participation of analysis and interpretation of data is highly desirable.



QUALIFICATIONS

  • The offered position is for individuals with at least a Bachelor's Degree in a related science or equivalent skills and experience, and zero to two years of experience.
  • Skills in the analysis and interpretation of data from immunoblot and qPCR experiments and on basics for mammalian cell culture would be highly desirable.

    Expertise on fluorescence-based cellular imaging is a plus. Ability for animal dissection and primary cellular cultures will also be highly desirable.
