The Community Relations Manager is responsible for leading and advancing strong relationships with investing partner jurisdictions, local tourism industry leaders, community stakeholders, and business associations while overseeing internal and external communications related to community engagement and organizational impact. This role manages performance reporting, develops executive presentations, and serves as a visible ambassador for See Monterey through strong public speaking and proactive community engagement.
Reporting to the VP of Marketing & Community Relations and supporting the CEO, this role works with all teams across the organization to ensure aligned messaging, support reputation management, and strengthen partnerships that advance regional tourism and economic development.
Essential Responsibilities
- Leads strategic partnership plans with Investment Partner Jurisdictions by serving as primary relationship manager and communications lead.
- Owns jurisdiction communications strategy, including performance reporting, impact storytelling, social media engagement, and proactive outreach.
- Develops and maintains strong relationships with strategic community partners and industry leaders, including local chambers of commerce, hospitality and business associations, and community-based organizations.
- Represents See Monterey at public meetings and industry forums with strong public speaking skills and executive presence.
- Develops and delivers concise, data-driven presentations and reports that communicate priorities, outcomes, and ROI.
- Builds trusted relationships with elected officials, civic leaders, business partners, and key stakeholders.
- Proactively track and evaluate jurisdiction agendas and actions; synthesize key policy developments; identify emerging issues of significance; and translate policy implications into actionable insights for leadership, communications, and community relations strategies.
- Supports reputation and issues management by monitoring stakeholder sentiment and coordinating timely communications.
- Ensures cross-departmental alignment on messaging, reporting accuracy, and stakeholder engagement strategy.
- Liaises with Membership and Destination Services teams for alignment and collaboration.
- Plans and executes stakeholder engagement initiatives aligned with jurisdiction priorities and organizational goals.
- Ensure compliance with organizational policies, procedures, and professional standards.
- Other duties as assigned.
Our Ideal Candidate:
- Bachelor’s degree in business, communications, hospitality management, or related field preferred.
- 5 years’ experience in stakeholder and business engagement, preferably within hospitality, tourism, or a related industry.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office products, including Powerpoint, Canva, social media platforms, and CRM/Sales database systems.
- Advanced professional writing and presentation skills.
- Demonstrated public speaking experience.
- Ability to attend special events and meetings at night and on weekends.
- Valid work authorization for the United States.
- Valid driver's license, insurance, and an acceptable motor vehicle record. Alternative forms of transportation may be considered if they provide comparable travel time and cost efficiency.
What We Offer:
- Competitive salary range of $95,000 -$110,000 depending on experience.
